Morne Steyn for sure,Lamnie can be a bit scetchy with his goal kicks, although Catrikils has BMT so would pick him before Lambie as well

@mozter,
i ahve no idea why u dont try ur hand at fantasy rugby, its obvious fantasy and rugby come very natural to u,
but i would say morne without a doubt, morne has the same aura as wilkinson, the type of aura which was built for that very situation.
and i also cant help but feel that if that hypothetical was to eventuate and morne and lambie were both on the field, morne would walk over and take the ball and kicking tee and lambie would say nothing.
morne is after all in SA the alpha male when it comes to kicking.

Just a thought - if Morne is s till in the team come WC time - we are doomed before we start in the competition - so lets hope he is history by then.

JW in NZ's case maybe a better word would be dullskuggery. But I wouldn't put anything past you fellows.

Mozart: perhaps bullsduggery is appropriate for a certain South African team, lol

Maybe so JW, but it just seemed such a natural progression from bulls to sheep and magically the rhyming fell in place.

Lambie having played 77 min, Morne to kick the goal having come off the bench with 3 minutes to go as there would be no way in hell the side would have got to that winning position if Morne had played the whole game at 10.
But having said that, Morne has hardly set the world alight with his goal kicking this year so I see no real point in him.......but lets face it, there have never been question marks against his goal kicking.......that's all he is good for.
Morne would never have won a single test cap if I was the Bok coach and that is not a joke. He is just too average a rugby player for my liking. Your test 10 has to have some flair and creativity.

Mozart: lol, maybe you should have stuck with shrubbery (as in Monty python) but I see how you came up with it. The mind goes to some strange places sometimes.

Yep I remember Dave, you were hot to trot for Pienaar to replace Morne at 10. Man I guess that satisfies your edict to never play Morne.....but at what cost?
JW in these matters I assume there is always shrubbery ....lots of shrubbery

Yes, good response Mozart, some things are best left unseen & even better unknown.
Back to rugby matters, as you probably expected Morne is not loved by all posters on here. I do remember games when he made us groan with his kicking he was that good. But there has to be someone who is better at unleashing the backs and has a decent enough boot?

Yep I stand by Pienaar at 10 when we had few options at 10..............look no further than Pienaar's display at 10 for the Boks against England where he won MOM for his attacking game, unlike Morne who has the odd MOM for his kicking display.
Butch was my first choice back then, with Pienaar as back-up. Morne has never featured in any of my Bok sides and for good reason, for with Morne on board we have only won about 65% of our tests......just not good enough.
A good test side needs a creative pivot, something Morne has never been

Why would the boks be there ?
