Lomp vs the Stormers locks

Saturday is high noon. Well I guess it all starts at 3.00 pm. But make no mistake this is a shoot out.  Earlier this year in Bloem Etzebeth took 3 of Lomp's balls at the lineout. Lomp responded by taking two of Stephanie's balls, much as RG Snyman and Grant Hatting did last Saturday.
So what was the verdict at Bloem...pretty much Etzebeth as the dominant figure, with Lomp and Stephanie fighting for second place. 
Since then Stephanie has had some good games, but most of the things fans like....the busting runs and good field coverage....are more akin to loosie play. Some will say he was easily bettered in the tight last Saturday by RG Snyman.
Lomp has had fewer successes. His mediocre form has fans picking Stephanie at 5. But one on one he dominates Stephanie physically. Yes he will be playing 4 for the Cheetahs, but be sure every throw going to Stephanie will be contested by Lomp.
So what you say. But remember he is taller than Steph, stronger and probably reaches up another 4 inches...there is a reason Stephanie struggled against the Cheetahs. And Lomp is a lazy player, which is not good news for Stephanie....there is a huge difference between a motivated Lomp and Lomp going through the motions. Be sure on Saturday with all the talk Lomp will be awake.
Should be a lot of fun to watch....but for Steph and Lomp it may decide who is fielding splinters. Or maybe both won't impress and RG Snyman our best long term prospect can assume his rightful place.

 If the failed Etzebeth last Saturday does not show improvement - the Cheetahs locks will be 2 against 1 as happened on Saturday.
Balls as per normal about Snyman - a good lock, but definitely outclassed by Du Toit.     

When was he outclassed, when he took Stephanie's ball at the lineout?  Etzebeth was rusty, but he never lost his lineout ball....Stephanie did, twice.

 Liar as per normal - all quiet about the line-out ball taken by Du Toit from Snyman 0 but screaming about the opposite.    What is it with you - when can anyone expect any honesty from you pertaining to match assessment?   Suppose never.
I accept that Etzebeth was rusty - but his contribution to forward play was near to zero - same with his replacement Elstadt.  Whereas Burger and the loosies were even worse - Du Toit had to take on the game trying to stave off disaster caused by all the useless non-contributory players.          

 Agreed .. Erasmus had an impressive outing.
I hope he gets a lot more game time.
As for Lood ... he should be kept as far away from the Bok team as possible.
We have several better options available to us.
We do not need this weedy, slack jawed dimwit.

 Come now, just because he looks like Quasimodo doesn't mean  he is slack jawed.

 Good news ...you can buy this on eBay . I'm predicting a Lomp breakout this Saturday....total dominance of the feeble Stephanie.

 If SA ever had a feeble lock in any franchise it was Matfield - your talk about Du Toit is a flight of imagination from an unthinking twit. 

 So what happened in the shoot out at OK choral. 
Starting with Etzebeth he took every one of his balls, took one of Lomp's....forced Lomp into a tap recovered by the Stormers.....and convincingly won the wresting match. 
Lomp stripped Stephanie once and Mohoje took one of Srephanie's balls cleanly.

Stephanie lost those two balls but took two off the Cheetahs loosies at the back.

Conclusion is Etzebeth dominated again, Lomp was one up on Stephanie who plied his trade at the back. Certainly not revenge for Bloemfontein. For me Stephanie is playing like a hybrid, which befits his physique. Even though it was a flop at the WC it wouldn't surprise me  to see Etzebeth at 7 for the Boks....I think Etzebeth and Lomp will get the nod.

PSDT was the best lock on the field.....a lock is not defined by his line out takes

If you are picked on the basis of athleticism rather than power, you have to deliver in the lineouts in addition to "loosie like" contributions in open play. Matfield did that throughout his career. Steph won't start if he isn't money in the lineouts.

PSDT is a good line-out forward, proven week after week. He is not there for his athleticism, he is there for his power and athleticism......you cant compare him to Matfield, he is far bigger.
PSDT is 2.01m and 120kg, Matfield was 2m and 110kg.
PSDT makes an impression with ball in hand when he operates in traffic that was never the case with Matfield.......they are completely different players.
Matfield was all about athleticism, no grunt......PSDT has athleticism and grunt.
One end of the scale you have athleticism and no grunt which is Matfield, the other end is pure grunt which would be Paul Willemse. Etzebeth, Jason Jenkins, Bakkies and Jean Kleyn would be close to the Willemse's end of the spectrum. They would be followed by Lood, PSDT and Ettienne Oosthuizen, thereafter it would be RG Snyman, Ruan Botha, Lourens Erasmus, Carl Wegner, Lewies and JD Schickerling, with Mostert closest to the Matfield end of the spectrum. 

RG Snyman's arms remind me of a lesbian who runs runs too much. Very skinny with a vein running down the bicep. Hehe. Jokes aside, the guy seems like pure quality. Eben hasn't turned out to be the enforcer Bakkies was but Snyman looks like he could take role.

Eben is more of an enforcer than Bakkies ever was and Bakkies was one of the best.
Snyman will never be an enforcer...he is another Matfield but thankfully 10kg heavier.

Dave when Eben had the ball down the touchline against NZ a year or two ago Ben  Smith never made a metre on him....he is probably our fastest lock as well as our strongest.

Agreed Eben is pretty special. Not only is he the most muscled bound of the lot, he is athletic enough to play 5 and with that comes the pace you mention.
PSDT has also shown good pace...would like to see them in a 50m race.
