Noah Hotham, the dynamic All Blacks scrum-half, has cleared the air about his recent injury, claiming that the coaching team, led by Scott Robertson, was not to blame for his rapid return to the field which resulted in a new injury. Despite suffering a severe ankle sprain in a July game against France, Hotham was back on the pitch in just eight weeks for a face-off with the Springboks, only to leave the game within minutes due to another devastating ankle injury.

During a collision with South Africa's Lood de Jager, Hotham injured his other ankle, leading to surgery for a fractured fibula. New Zealand Rugby confirmed the unfortunate news, stating, “Noah has been ruled out of the remainder of the Rugby Championship. He underwent surgery for a fractured fibula on his left ankle. His return to play timeframe is currently being assessed by our medical team.”

In response to fans’ concerns, Hotham reassured them via social media.

“Was the other leg than the one previously injured, fam. I was not rushed back; the coaches and medical staff worked excellently together in preparation for my return where I was fit and ready! Just an unfortunate rugby injury this one. Be back soon.”

While the timeline for Hotham's return remains uncertain, the All Blacks are grappling with more than one injury. Fellow scrum-halves Cam Roigard and Cortez Ratima are also sidelined with injuries, leaving the team in a precarious position as they face crucial upcoming matches against the Wallabies in the Rugby Championship—currently a tight contest with all teams locked in a close battle for supremacy.

Amidst these challenges, Robertson expressed optimism about the injury situation, hinting at potential comebacks. He mentioned,

“It would be a massive boost. It would be good to get a couple coming back the other way.”

This came after a tough loss to the Springboks, which saw the All Blacks fall to third place in the Championship standings, trailing Australia and tied with South Africa, with Argentina not far behind.

The All Blacks are scheduled to clash with the Wallabies in Auckland and Perth on September 27 and October 4, respectively, as they strive to reclaim their dominant form in a fiercely competitive tournament.
