All Blacks Reload, Target Sharks in Durban Clash

All Blacks coach Dave Rennie has rolled out a powerhouse lineup for their upcoming showdown against the Sharks in Durban this Tuesday. Following a robust 38-21 win over the Stormers last Friday, sweeping changes have been made, spotlighting several key players set for the looming four-Test series with the Springboks.

Luke Jacobson is set to captain the All Blacks for the first time, anchoring the team at No 8 after his recent stint as openside flanker in the Nations Championship. He's joined in an all-Chiefs loose trio by Wallace Sititi at No 7 and Tupou Vaa’i at No 6.

"Luke is the obvious choice to captain the team against the Sharks. He is highly respected, has a great feel for the game and will lead through his actions."

Coach Rennie’s strategy includes giving Kyle Preston a start at No 9, positioning him to vie for Cam Roigard's backup scrumhalf spot. Roigard will make his tour debut off the bench later in the game.

The dynamic backline sees Ruben Love at No 10, with Damian McKenzie taking the No 15 jersey. Midfielders Jordie Barrett and Quinn Tupaea will reconnect at Nos 12 and 13, respectively, while Caleb Clarke returns on the left wing as No 11.

The formidable front row features Ethan de Groot at No 1, Asafo Aumua at No 2, and Fletcher Newell at No 3. In the second row, Sam Darry and Josh Lord will pack down as Nos 5 and 4, respectively.

Additional potential debutants include Bradley Slater and Semisi Ta’eiloa, named among the substitutes.

The high-intensity physical play that marked the opening match of the tour against the Stormers is something Rennie anticipates encountering against the Sharks as well.
