Shaun Wane, the England rugby league coach, is all praise for Andy Farrell's stunning success with the British and Irish Lions, especially after securing two victories against the Wallabies in Brisbane and Melbourne. Farrell is now on the brink of leading the Lions to their first series whitewash since 1927 with a decisive match looming in Sydney. Wane's admiration for Farrell is evident as he plans to bring him into the rugby league camp before their Ashes series against Australia.

Wane shared his expectations for Farrell's ongoing impact in the sport, noting,

"Knowing Andy how I know him, he will be more obsessed about winning this week than he was in the first and second Tests."

He further emphasized the significance of a potential clean sweep, "He would love nothing more than to achieve a 3-0 series whitewash – and I’d love to see the Lions do it."

Farrell's leadership qualities have not gone unnoticed, with Wane acknowledging his innate drive. "For Andy to be the head coach of a British and Irish Lions side who have gone up 2-0 to already clinch a really tough series is fantastic. It’s everything I would expect from Andy because he’s just a born winner no matter where he goes or what he does, as a player or coach."

Wane, who briefly worked with the Scottish Rugby Union, has been keeping a keen eye on the Lions' performances, preparing for his own strategic face-off with Australia's rugby league team. He expressed his admiration for the rugby union talent, particularly highlighting Maro Itoje's standout performance in Melbourne. "It was the way he led from the front," Wane reflected, adding,

"So for Maro to do what he did and make the decisions he did was fantastic and spoke volumes about his character."

As the Ashes series approaches, Wane is confident that the Lions' success against the Wallabies can inspire his team. "Our series against Australia is going to be full on, so I’ve been watching the Lions series very closely. The fact that they have beaten the Wallabies absolutely gives our Ashes series against the Kangaroos added spice."

With a strategy to integrate Farrell's insights into their preparation, Wane is gearing up for a formidable challenge. "We need to be as prepared as the Lions have been," he concluded, setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying Ashes series.
