As the dust settles on their July victories against Italy and Georgia, the Springboks are ramping up for a tougher challenge, according to head coach Rassie Erasmus. The team is set to regroup in Johannesburg this Sunday, with their sights firmly set on the upcoming Rugby Championship clashes. First in line are the Wallabies, with the Boks hosting them at Ellis Park and then in Cape Town the following week.

Erasmus expressed his satisfaction with the team's recent preparatory efforts. "We are pleased with the hard work the players put in over the last two weeks, and we are looking forward to making the switch into the Rugby Championship next week," he remarked. The coach emphasized the stark contrast in the level of intensity and competitiveness that awaits them. "The intensity and competitiveness of this competition will be completely different, and our conditioning camp was important to allow us to make that step-up physically and mentally,” Erasmus added.

"We will be going up against quality teams in the Wallabies, All Blacks, and Pumas, so it was important to lay a strong foundation on and off the field before we go into full Test-match week from Sunday."

The Springboks' preparation included a mix of gym and field training sessions, along with strategic boardroom meetings to realign the team's standards and objectives. "It was very productive, and we hope it will benefit us as we prepare to face a psyched-up and physical Australian team following the Lions series," said Erasmus.

Erasmus also outlined the strategic approach to the tournament. "We are approaching the tournament in three different blocks, the first of which is the leg against Australia. We have no doubt they will want to build on their performances against the Lions, while we want to carry the momentum from the incoming series. We’re under no illusions about the challenge, but we’re excited to get going."

The Springboks’ schedule in the Rugby Championship is as follows: They will take on Australia on August 16 at Ellis Park in Johannesburg and again on August 23 at Cape Town Stadium. The battles will continue into September and October with matches against New Zealand and Argentina, promising a full roster of high-stakes rugby action.
