Last weekend, Lions head coach Andy Farrell was the toast of Melbourne, but former Lions hooker Brian Moore is already pivoting the conversation towards the next clash in Sydney. While the dust settles on the controversial Jac Morgan/Carlo Tizzano breakdown collision from the series-clinching win, Moore is focusing on the selection strategies for the upcoming series finale.

With the series already in the bag, Moore advises against complacency. In his column for the Telegraph, he emphasized the need for the Lions to maintain their intensity, "The Lions must show the sort of bloody-minded ruthlessness that used to be associated with New Zealand, and is the hallmark of current world champions, South Africa."

"They need to stamp home their dominance with a convincing display on the final Test in Sydney on Saturday."

Moore highlights the psychological challenge of playing from a position of strength. "To dominate from a winning position is a necessary trait of good sides, but the mindset to do this is not easily summoned," he wrote. The true test for Farrell will be in his selections for the final showdown.

While there might be a temptation to rotate heavily, Moore strongly cautions against it. "There must be a temptation to make wholesale changes this coming Saturday. Farrell could, rightly, make the point that he has proved his critics wrong thus far. He could go further, saying it would be right to reward the loyalty of fringe squad players by allowing them to experience Lions’ Test rugby."

"That step would be a mistake."

Moore contends that such decisions could dilute the competitive essence of the team, undermining the respect due to Australian rugby and the fans. Meanwhile, the ruck incident involving Morgan and Tizzano continues to stir debate, with Moore describing it as "borderline" but fundamentally a part of rugby's ongoing evolution post the ban on the crocodile roll.

As the Lions prepare for Sydney, Moore's insights underline the delicate balance between maintaining a winning momentum and integrating squad players into the high-pressure environment of Test rugby. The choices made by Farrell in the coming days could very well define his tenure and the legacy of this Lions tour.
