Oh, the winds of change are blowing through the veldt! The Vodacom Bulls are apparently plotting a homecoming parade for one of their own, as they set their sights on former Stormers' heavyweight, Oli Kebble, to beef up their line-up for the next season. With the 2025-26 season looming, the Bulls are looking to add some serious muscle to their front row, and who better than the seasoned Scotsman?
Currently rumbling around in the French fields with Oyonnax, Kebble, who turned the ripe old age of 33 this year, seems ready for a return to South African pastures. His rugby journey took him from Western Province to the Stormers, and then onto a lengthy seven-year crusade with Glasgow Warriors, before his French fling. The loosehead prop stamped his international career with Scotland after snagging residency, capping it off with 12 appearances by 2022.
"We're in advanced talks with Kebble. He’s got the experience and the brawn we need to fortify our front row,"
a source close to the Bulls management revealed. While the Bulls prepare to welcome a familiar face, they might be bidding adieu to another. Simphiwe Matanzima, their current loosehead prop, is reportedly on the Sharks' radar. It seems the Sharks are ready to throw some serious coin to snag Matanzima as a replacement for their injured duo, Trevor Nyakane and Ntuthuko Mchunu. Despite a tough season shadowed by a heart-related illness, Matanzima showed his mettle in the crucial Vodacom URC playoff clashes against Munster and Glasgow, proving he’s still got plenty of fight left in him.
"It’s all down to what the Sharks are willing to offer. Matanzima is a valuable player, and we won’t let him go easily,"
stated a Bulls insider. With the scrum caps possibly switching heads, the Bulls' strategic maneuvers on and off the field could very well redefine their game plan for the upcoming season. As they say in rugby, it's all about gaining ground, one hard yard at a time!
