On Thursday, Bulls' coach Ackermann mentioned the ongoing discussions regarding the recruitment of Smith and Marx. He emphasized that although the players are being considered, the deals are far from finalized.
"There are still negotiations going on. Their names are on our table and we’ll look at them,"
When probed about the proximity of securing either of the Springboks, Ackermann maintained a non-committal stance.
"Not yay or nay."
In addition to these potential high-profile signings, there was some clarification regarding Luan Giliomee's situation. The young prospect has been listed with both the Bulls and the Sharks for the upcoming season, causing some confusion among fans and media alike.
Ackermann explained that Giliomee is still under contract with the Sharks, but an arrangement has been made for his transfer once the contract concludes.
"He’s still under contract with the Sharks, but we obviously have an agreement that he will come to us once his contract finishes,"
The coach expressed hope that Giliomee would join the Bulls around October, after his obligations with the Sharks have been met.
These strategic moves and clarifications come as the Bulls prepare to strengthen their squad for the United Rugby Championship, aiming to leverage new and existing talent to bolster their performance in the highly competitive league.
With negotiations ongoing and player positions being clarified, the Bulls are looking to make precise and effective decisions that will enhance their team dynamics and overall success in the upcoming seasons.
