It was a night of glitz and glamour in Pretoria this Wednesday as the Vodacom Bulls swapped muddy jerseys for sharp suits at their annual Player Awards. Cameron Hanekom, not content with just dominating on the field, virtually swept the floor, grabbing a whopping four awards. His teammate, Wilco Louw, wasn't far behind, snatching up two prestigious titles himself.

The Bulls' No. 8 Hanekom was the star of the show, winning Fans’ Player of the Year, Champions Cup Forward of the Year, Champions Cup Player of the Year, and Vodacom URC Forward of the Year. These accolades were a nod to his exceptional performance across various competitions throughout the season. Meanwhile, Louw, a powerhouse in the front row, earned the URC Player of the Year award and was also named Senior MVP, a testament to his critical role in the team's success.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the fans and my peers. This has been a team effort every step of the way,"

Hanekom commented, reflecting on his awards.

On the women’s side, Sizophila Solontsi also shone brightly, securing the Bulls Daisies Players’ Player of the Year and MVP awards right before she heads off to the Women’s World Cup with the Springbok Women’s squad.

Other notable recognitions included Jannes Kirsten, who was named Currie Cup Player of the Year, and Canan Moodie, who took home the Champions Cup Back of the Year award. The younger categories saw JT Kapank, Jean Erasmus, and Abri van der Westhuysen being honored in the U19 division, demonstrating the depth of talent within the club.

The ceremony was not just about star players; it also celebrated the unsung heroes within the team. Collen Khoza was named Employee of the Year, Keagan Johannes grabbed the Newcomer of the Year title, and Johan Grobbelaar was celebrated as the Team Man of the Year.

With the awards determined by a mix of coaching staff, management, and fan votes, the evening was a comprehensive showcase of talent and dedication that makes the Bulls a formidable force in rugby.

As the Bulls prepare for their upcoming test against Boland, following a recent injury setback, the awards night provided a well-timed morale boost. The team will need to carry the celebration's momentum into their next challenges, hopefully replicating the successes celebrated on this dazzling evening.
