Frans Steyn, the strategic mind behind the Cheetahs' bench, is on the verge of securing a significant boost for his squad with the imminent addition of two seasoned internationals. The streets of Bloemfontein might soon be buzzing with the arrival of Henry Immelman and Simon Miller, both of whom bring a wealth of international flair and experience to the table.

Henry Immelman, a familiar face in Bloemfontein and an alumnus of Grey College, could soon make a grand return. After spreading his wings across Europe with stints at Montpellier and Edinburgh, Immelman made his way back to South African shores in 2023 to join the Bulls. Despite his undeniable skill, playing time has been a bit elusive for the 31-year-old versatile back.

Simon Miller, on the other hand, is set to add some serious muscle and flexibility to the Cheetahs' forward pack. The 25-year-old utility player, who has been showcasing his talents in Japan with the Shizuoka Blue Revs, is adept in both lock and flank positions. A product of St Alban’s College, Miller's rugby journey included impressive performances with Maties, Western Province, and the Stormers before he ventured abroad.

"Bringing Henry and Simon on board would be a significant enhancement to our team dynamics. Both players have shown impressive form internationally and we look forward to the potential impact they could make in the Currie Cup," commented Frans Steyn.

The Cheetahs have been laying down the groundwork for a competitive Currie Cup season, recently wrapping up the Toyota Challenge. The tournament saw them face off against international teams like Romania A, Black Lion from Georgia, and Portugal's Lusitanos. Their next match in the series is a showdown against Black Lion, scheduled for a late Sunday afternoon kick-off.

As anticipation builds, the possible inclusion of Immelman and Miller could spell a new chapter for the Cheetahs, potentially transforming them into formidable contenders for the Currie Cup crown. This move by Steyn could indeed be a game-changer as they look to dominate the domestic rugby scene once more.
