The match started with Boland's flyhalf Ashlon Davids kicking a penalty to put the first points on the board. Griquas responded fiercely as flank Marco de Witt celebrated his 50th cap with a try, which Liam Koen converted, marking the beginning of a relentless onslaught.
Shortly thereafter, Griquas extended their lead through winger Dylan Maart who skillfully scored in the corner. However, the game intensity heightened as both teams suffered yellow cards; Joshua Eras for Boland and Leon Lyons for Griquas both sidelined due to infractions.
