The Dragons, based out of Newport, face another challenging season in the United Rugby Championship following a previous campaign that saw them secure only three wins and four draws. Despite a stellar run in the European Challenge Cup, where they reached the semi-finals, their domestic performance has room for improvement.
Last season's highlight for the Dragons was undoubtedly their deep run in the Challenge Cup, highlighted by a notable victory against Stade Français in Paris. Their semi-final bout against Montpellier, although ending in defeat, showcased their potential with Aneurin Owen scoring twice in a memorable match.

With their European success fresh in mind, the Dragons now aim to transfer that momentum to the URC. The departure of stalwart Aaron Wainwright, who leaves after contributing significantly over nine years, marks the end of an era. However, Ben Carter's presence, noted for his impressive tackle success rate of 97.6% last season, offers a pillar of strength for the team.
Aneurin Owen, a pivotal figure last season, was recognized as the Dragons' Player of the Season for the second consecutive year. His dynamic centre partnership with Fine Inisi will be crucial for the Dragons as they seek to climb the URC standings.

Looking ahead, the Dragons have brought in some exciting talent to bolster their ranks. New Zealand-born Samoan scrum-half Ere Enari, who joins from the Hurricanes, is one to watch this season. Additionally, young flanker Harry Beddall, emerging from the academy, shows great promise.
In the coaching department, Filo Tiatia embarks on his second year as head coach, bringing a wealth of experience from his previous roles in Japan and with Auckland. Joining him is former Dragon Shaun Connor, who will contribute as a kicking & skills consultant, while Simon Church returns as senior Strength & Conditioning coach.
