James O'Connor is stepping into the flyhalf boots for the Wallabies in their upcoming clash against the Springboks at Ellis Park this Saturday. In a lineup that remains largely unchanged from the one that triumphed over the British & Irish Lions in Sydney, O'Connor's inclusion—replacing the concussed Tom Lynagh—is the sole tweak.

Experience on this particular turf is sparse, with only James Slipper, Taniela Tupou, and Nic White among the match 23 having donned the gold jersey at Ellis Park before. The front row sees Billy Pollard hooking in with Slipper and Tupou, while the second row remains solid with Nick Frost and Will Skelton. The loose trio consists of Tom Hooper, Fraser McReight, and skipper Harry Wilson, with Hooper revisiting the grounds of his 2023 test debut.

In the backline, centers Len Ikitau and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii continue their dynamic partnership, flanked by wings Dylan Pietsch and Max Jorgensen, both of whom crossed the try line in Sydney, and fullback Tom Wright completing the lineup.

"We’ve had a good week of preparation, adjusting well to the time zone and altitude here in Johannesburg,"

noted Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt.

"There’s not many bigger Tests than playing South Africa on their home turf and we know we’ll need to be at our best on Saturday night."

The bench packs a punch with Brandon Paenga-Amosa, Angus Bell, and Zane Nonggorr covering the front row. Jeremy Williams is set as the reserve lock, while Langi Gleeson and Nick Champion de Crespigny add depth to the loose forwards. Tate McDermott will cover scrumhalf duties, with Andrew Kellaway ready as the utility back.

With the Wallabies gearing up for a monumental showdown in Johannesburg, the stage is set for a thrilling encounter. The squad appears locked, loaded, and ready to tackle the Springboks head-on in what promises to be a fiery battle under the South African skies.
