The Junior Springboks have bulldozed their way into the U20 Championship final, hammering out a decisive 48-24 victory over Argentina in Viadana. With a double whammy from centre Albie Bester and a virtuoso performance by flyhalf Vusi Moyo, the South Africans are looking sharper than ever, eyeing the trophy in a face-off with New Zealand this coming Saturday.

The match kicked off with some nail-biting tension, but Bester sliced through the anxiety, scoring the opening try after a slick assist from scrumhalf Haashim Pead. Pead, not just content with setting up tries, snagged one himself, marking his sixth of the tournament after a dazzling set-up involving Batho Hlekani and Wandile Mlaba.

"That is an unbelievable try!"

The South African blitz didn’t stop there. Before the half-time whistle could offer any respite to the Argentines, Jaco Williams and JJ Theron added their names to the scoresheet, with Moyo kicking each conversion through the posts, bringing the score to a comfortable 28-10 by the break.

Argentina looked to regroup and came out strong in the second half, narrowing the gap with a try by Timoteo Silva. However, the Junior Boks' "Bomb Squad", a strategy involving a five-forward substitution, maintained the pressure. Bester, seizing a midfield turnover, dashed through to plant another try, pushing the score up to 41-17.

Despite a late surge from the Pumitas, including a try from replacement Ramon Fernandez Miranda, the South African defense held firm. The match was sealed by a stunning long-range try from Cheswill Jooste, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling final against New Zealand.

The Junior Boks showed both their lethal attacking prowess and their gritty defensive mettle. However, their discipline could be a concern, with two yellow cards and 16 penalties conceded—a potential Achilles' heel as they gear up for the grand finale in Rovigo.

As they prepare for the showdown, this team has not only demonstrated their ability to score but also their resilience under pressure — a combination that could very well lead them to lift the championship trophy. The question now is, can they fine-tune their game enough to overcome a formidable New Zealand squad? Saturday’s clash will tell.
