Leinster's preparations for their pivotal Investec Champions Cup semi-final clash this Saturday could hit a snag with a key player potentially sidelined. The heavyweight Irish team might have to face Toulon without star tighthead prop Tadhg Furlong, who suffered an injury setback during their unexpected 29-26 loss to Benetton in the Vodacom URC. Furlong's early exit in the 28th minute due to an injury has stirred concerns, with an update on his condition expected early next week.

The loss in Treviso not only highlighted Leinster’s vulnerabilities but also compounded their frustration as poor game management, lack of discipline, and maul defense issues surfaced yet again. This defeat has certainly set the stage for a tension-filled semifinal at home in Dublin.

"It's frustrating to see familiar problems cost us games, especially at such a crucial point in the season,"

lamented Leinster coach Leo Cullen after the match in Italy. His team is now under pressure to rectify these issues before the high-stakes encounter against Toulon.

On the other side, Toulon is nursing its own roster woes. The French squad is closely monitoring the fitness of a number of key forwards including Charles Ollivon, David Ribbans, Lewis Ludlam, Swan Rebbadj, and Brian Alainu’uese. Adding to their concerns, they have lost Gabin Villière to a long-term cruciate ligament injury, with Dany Priso and Marius Domon also on the injury list.

Despite these setbacks, Toulon's recent 52-26 drubbing of Bayonne in the Top 14, where they showcased their attacking prowess by running in eight tries, should keep them optimistic as they travel to Dublin.

As both teams battle it out with injury concerns, the upcoming semi-final promises to be a gripping contest, with stakes riding high and the final just within reach. Both Leinster and Toulon will have to dig deep into their reserves, strategize with what they have, and possibly redefine their paths to victory in what could be one of the season's defining matches.
