Momentum swung briefly when Pumas’ lock JJ Scheepers scored, narrowing the gap. However, the Lions capitalized on a yellow card to Pumas’ winger Dalvon Blood, pushing further ahead with a penalty try and subsequent scores.

The score at halftime was a narrow 21-17, but the Lions burst out in the second half, expanding their lead significantly. Cairns completed his brace, followed by a flurry of tries from Nela and Rynhardt Jonker, each converted by Francis.
The Pumas tried to claw back with a try by replacement Conor van Eden and additional penalties by Visagie, but it wasn't enough to stem the tide. Nela’s second try sealed a dominant win for the Lions.
Looking ahead, the Lions are set to host the Bulls XV, offering them a chance to build on this momentum. Meanwhile, the Pumas will aim to regroup as they travel to face Boland.
