In a stunning display of rugby prowess, the Springboks laid down a marker by trouncing the All Blacks 43-10 in Wellington, recording the heftiest defeat ever inflicted on New Zealand. The victory was a sweet rebound from their earlier 24-17 loss in Auckland, and it's flung the Rugby Championship wide open. Injecting fresh blood into the lineup, Rassie Erasmus made seven pivotal changes which included the introduction of Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Damian Willemse, and Ethan Hooker in their starting XV.

Manie Libbok, who jumped into the fray after Feinberg-Mngomezulu's early exit, was a game-changer off the bench. His strategic play in the second half helped the Boks pile on 36 unanswered points. Nick Mallett, speaking on the Talking Boks podcast, couldn't hold back his praise, "Manie came on when the pack had us on the front foot – Jasper Wiese was barreling through, Pieter-Steph du Toit was a beast with the carries, and our lineout and scrum were dominant. Manie steered us superbly under those conditions. His tactical kicking and decision-making were top-notch."

"We scored five tries, but not by running from our 22 – we kicked smart, contestable kicks and kept turning them. That balance was spot-on."

The win wasn't just about Libbok; the entire team stepped up, with the backline showing fluidity and impact. Mallett was particularly impressed with Willemse and Hooker. "Damian Willemse was magnificent – he brought everything from playmaking to physicality, and Ethan Hooker looked born to play Test rugby," he remarked.

"Our forwards were getting over the advantage line, our set pieces were dominant, and our backs were clinical. It was poetry. To do that to a well-organized All Blacks side is seismic – I don’t know how their coaching staff are going to pick them up after taking 43 points."

Despite the emphatic win, Erasmus is expected to continue rotating his squad, with Mallett hinting at the use of around 30 players in the upcoming games to optimize squad performance. The Springboks are now poised for their encounters against Argentina, carrying forward the momentum from this historic win. As they prepare to host Los Pumas in Durban followed by a rematch at Twickenham, it’s clear this Bok side has reignited their championship aspirations with a vengeance.
