In a bid to reinvigorate their backline, the Stormers have introduced fresh blood for their upcoming Vodacom URC clash against Cardiff this Friday night at the Arms Park. The rejig sees Damian Willemse shifting to fullback from his previous midfield role, following a 38-38 standoff against Ulster. New faces Jonathan Roche and Wandisile Simelane will take up the center spots, with Roche making a return from injury and Simelane sliding over from the wing.

Amidst these tactical shifts, Suleiman Hartzenberg will don the No. 14 jersey, pushing the team's dynamics into new territory. The forwards will also see some rotation; Paul de Villiers steps in as openside flank, Neethling Fouché takes over the tighthead position from Sazi Sandi and takes on the captaincy in the absence of both Deon Fourie and Ruhan Nel. JJ Kotze will be ready off the bench as backup hooker to André-Hugo Venter.

"No freebies from ‘desperate’ Stormers"

The match roster also heralds the return of powerhouse Bok lock Salmaan Moerat, recovering from toe surgery, alongside Marcel Theunissen to beef up the lock options. The backline reserves will be manned by Stefan Ungerer and Jurie Matthee, ensuring depth in the face of the relentless 4G pitch at Cardiff.

The stakes are high as the Stormers, sitting snugly in second place, trail the Glasgow Warriors by a mere point. Both teams are simultaneously in action, with the Warriors facing off against Ulster. Cardiff, currently seventh, is clawing desperately to secure a playoff spot, adding an extra layer of intensity to the clash.

"Sacha’s ‘party’ days are over,"

For Friday's game, the line-up will be as follows: STORMERS – Damian Willemse (15), Suleiman Hartzenberg (14), Wandisile Simelane (13), Jonathan Roche (12), Leolin Zas (11), Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (10), Imad Khan (9), Evan Roos (8), Ben-Jason Dixon (7), Paul de Villiers (6), Ruben van Heerden (5), Adré Smith (4), Neethling Fouché (captain, 3), André-Hugo Venter (2), Ntuthuko Mchunu (1). Bench: JJ Kotze (16), Oli Kebble (17), Zachary Porthen (18), Salmaan Moerat (19), Marcel Theunissen (20), Keke Morabe (21), Stefan Ungerer (22), Jurie Matthee (23).

As the Stormers gear up for this critical battle, all eyes will be on how this strategic shuffle plays out on the challenging terrain against a team that's fighting tooth and nail for their playoff life.
