The Stormers have successfully extended contracts for a group of seasoned players in preparation for the 2026-27 season. Among the retained stars are JJ Kotzé (2), Adré Smith (4), Deon Fourie (6), Marcel Theunissen (7), Hacjivah Dayimani (8), Ruhan Nel (12), Seabelo Senatla (11), Leolin Zas (14), and Warrick Gelant (15), all of whom were pivotal in clinching the Vodacom URC title in the 2022-23 season. Collectively, they bring an impressive 767 caps for the Stormers into the upcoming campaign.
Alongside these established names, newer talent is rising through the ranks, ensuring the team remains competitive. Springbok players like prop Zachary Porthen (1), who has recently earned his sixth cap, and promising youngsters such as Vernon Matongo (17) and Josh Boulle (23) have also secured their futures with the team following their progression from the Stormers Rugby Academy.
"We made several high-profile signings and announced extensions of some important players last season, and the retention of this group gives us real depth in our squad," explained John Dobson, the Director of Rugby.
