The defence coach took personal responsibility for the team's poor performance against Boland.
"Against Boland they were able to move the contact point much better than us and we were too slow to get there. One disappointing aspect was the collision battle. As defence coach, I’ll take full responsibility for that."
Boulle also chimed in, emphasizing the need to return to the physical and dominant style of play that served them well in their first game of the season.
"We need to get back to the system we had against Griquas, where we were physical and dominant in the collisions."He expressed hope that reviving their robust defensive system would enhance their overall gameplay.
The Stormers' upcoming opponents, the Sharks, have had a mixed start to their season, securing a win against the Pumas but falling short against the Cheetahs. Pienaar praised the Sharks' early performance, noting their resilience in away games and the threat they pose with a balanced team of experienced players and emerging talent.
"They’ve shown what they can do. They’ve got a fantastic set-piece, quality carriers, an exciting back three and a quality nine and 10. It’s going to be a massive challenge and a massive battle for us," Pienaar remarked, setting the stage for what promises to be a fiercely competitive match.
