Scotland's head coach, Gregor Townsend, has shuffled his pack ahead of the monumental Six Nations showdown against Ireland in Dublin this Saturday, aiming to clinch a historic title. Compelled by injuries, Townsend introduced fresh legs into the second row, with Max Williamson and Grant Gilchrist stepping in for the injured duo of Gregor Brown and Scott Cummings, who were casualties in the high-octane 50-40 triumph over France. Additionally, Zander Fagerson is set to start at tighthead prop, moving D’Arcy Rae to the bench.

The stakes are sky-high as Scotland, tied at 16 points with France, could snag their first Six Nations title since the tournament's inception if they outperform the French, who face England in Paris. However, Townsend is keeping the celebrations on hold, focusing instead on the immediate challenge.

"We’ve not talked about that,"

Townsend remarked, redirecting the conversation to the match at hand.

"It’s really another opportunity to play. That performance [against France] was close to the best that we’ve seen from this group and from probably any Scotland team. The expectations might be there to repeat that performance but what we want to see from it is are they physically ready? They’re fresh."

Despite a rocky start with a loss to Italy, Scotland revved up their campaign by defeating England and Wales, and ended France's Grand Slam aspirations. Townsend has kept faith in the same back division that faced France, featuring Man of the Match Kyle Steyn and Darcy Graham, Scotland's all-time top try-scorer, on the wings. The fullback position sees Blair Kinghorn continue, while Sione Tuipulotu captains the side, paired with Huw Jones in the centres. The critical halves combination will once again see scrumhalf Ben White link up with the charismatic flyhalf Finn Russell.

On the bench, Scotland introduces fresh options including lock Alex Craig, back-rower Magnus Bradbury, and Kyle Rowe, who will provide cover for the back-three positions, marking their first appearances in this Six Nations tournament.

Scotland's lineup for the clash reads as follows – 15 Blair Kinghorn, 14 Darcy Graham, 13 Huw Jones, 12 Sione Tuipulotu (c), 11 Kyle Steyn, 10 Finn Russell, 9 Ben White, 8 Jack Dempsey, 7 Rory Darge, 6 Matt Fagerson, 5 Grant Gilchrist, 4 Max Williamson, 3 Zander Fagerson, 2 George Turner, 1 Pierre Schoeman. Bench: 16 Ewan Ashman, 17 Rory Sutherland, 18 D’arcy Rae, 19 Alex Craig, 20 Magnus Bradbury, 21 George Horne, 22 Kyle Rowe, 23 Tom Jordan.

As Townsend's men gear up to potentially etch their names into the annals of Scottish rugby history, all eyes will be on Dublin come Saturday, where a fierce battle for Six Nations glory awaits.
