In a bid to stabilize a ship rocked by injuries, Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt has announced a reshuffled lineup for the upcoming Rugby Championship clash against Argentina. With key players sidelined, fresh faces are set to step onto the field, including Tane Edmed who will make his first Test start at fly-half. The match on Saturday promises high stakes and fresh talents aiming to leave their mark.

Edmed, stepping in for the injured Tom Lynagh, will pair with Nic White in the halfbacks, injecting new energy into the Wallabies' playmaking axis. The team also welcomes Hunter Paisami, donning the gold jersey for the first time this year, as he replaces an injured Len Ikitau. The backline sees a mix of consistency and change; Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii continues his midfield duties, now alongside Paisami after impressing with two tries in last week’s narrow victory.

Up front, veteran James Slipper edges closer to a historic milestone, preparing for his 149th match, just one shy of a record 150 caps for Australia. He's flanked by Billy Pollard and Taniela Tupou in a formidable front row, while the second row and back-row units see strategic tweaks to manage player fitness and injuries.

"While managing injuries is always a challenge, we’re excited to have some fresh bodies who have been training hard with the group and are keen to contribute,"

Schmidt remarked, highlighting the blend of seasoned warriors and eager newcomers set to face a determined Argentine squad.

The bench also sees a mix of continuity and fresh blood with the inclusion of Josh Nasser and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, both poised to make significant contributions in their first Tests of the year. The tactical shifts underscore a Wallabies side intent on not just coping with adversity but turning it into an opportunity to showcase depth and resilience.

"Argentina led for the whole game in Townsville until the very end, and we’re very aware of the threat they’ll pose on Saturday afternoon. We’ll need to be better than we were last week,"

added Schmidt, setting the stage for a fierce rematch.

The Wallabies team facing Argentina is as follows:

Australia: 15 Andrew Kellaway, 14 Max Jorgensen, 13 Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, 12 Hunter Paisami, 11 Corey Toole, 10 Tane Edmed, 9 Nic White, 8 Harry Wilson (c), 7 Fraser McReight, 6 Rob Valetini, 5 Tom Hooper, 4 Jeremy Williams, 3 Taniela Tupou, 2 Billy Pollard, 1 James Slipper.

Replacements: 16 Josh Nasser, 17 Angus Bell, 18 Zane Nonggorr, 19 Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, 20 Carlo Tizzano, 21 Tate McDermott, 22 James O’Connor, 23 Filipo Daugunu.

With resilience at its core, the reconfigured Wallabies squad is braced for a battle that could redefine their standing in the Rugby Championship, all unfolding this Saturday at Allianz Stadium, Sydney.
