AB de Villiers has announced his retirement from all forms of professional cricket and if there wa sone player who made a huge difference to how the game was played it is AB.  A ReAL great OF THE GAME OF CRICKET.

In dealing with this retirement  I was thinking of one of my favourite songs of ABBA - "So I say thank you for the music. For giving it to me. I've been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair. I wanna sing it out to everybody. What a joy, what a life, what a chance! Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing. Thanks for all the joy they're bringing. Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty"

In his case one can say - thank you for the cricket - the joy it brought to all of us.   May he  has a wonderful future - same as you had set a wonderful example for many- many people.  I will always remember a remark made by Kohli after an IPL match:-

"AB is the best cricket player in the world - but as good a player  he is - he is a better human being."

Kholi was also asked after the one IPL match

"So what is it like being the No 1 cricket player in the world"

His reply.... "I have no idea...… ask AB"

For me....it is the posts and comments that have come out, from amongst the very cricket elite, that makes you realize just how m uch of a genuine great, AB really is and was...…

It is a well-known fact that Kohli and AB are close friends and business  partnrs.

Not only is he a great cricket player but a great South African who chose to remain in RSA and bolster the Proteas for a number of years.

Trust he has a successful retirement from the game and I am sure the offers from companies are standing in the wings to get him recruited.

Thank you AB for your exciting batting performances and what you did for your country.

May you be blessed with a healthy life filled with joy,  happiness and surrounded with those you love.

Baie Dankie .

God Bless.

I think that AB is already a very wealthy person  and his fortune was estimated to be S30  million at one stage.   He is not really in the market for employment purposes by companies and if they do try and get his services  you will be talking of millions of dollars - not Rand.   The $30 million is estimated on AB's SA holdings - but he is also in partnership with businesses controlled by Kohli - whose estimated worth is $300 million  and that is not  advertised widely.   I think the enterprises that would be interested in "employing" AB would center around Johan Rupert who is one of the 200 wealthiest people in the world.   Rupert has interests in major enterprises in China, Russia, India and Australia - the latter includes race horse breeding.   Together with his business partner Motsepe effectively owns the Blue Bulls rugby franchise and has major interests in SA and European golf as well.   He may avoid  looking at cricket in SA because it is highly politicized, but will not hesitate to use cricket in countries like India.to advance his business interests.                 .

Good for him and his kin.

Fill your pockets AB you deserve every "penny" you get.

Just don't invest it in RSA.

Year ago I read that the IPL money was paid into an account in Jersey and advised Quinton de Kock to do the same.   He actually managed the Qui nton investments as well.

Three cricketers changed cricket forever, one Ozzie and two South Africans, Warne as a leg spinner, Jonty fielding at backward point and AB 360 in T20. They brought to the game of cricket what Tiger brought to the game of golf, Ali brought to heavyweight boxing and Bruce Lee brought to Karate.

Fearless at the crease he always gave the impression that he wanted to be in the middle......a true competitor, talented and skilled. He had all the shots and played to all parts of the ground hence the nick "360"

We won't see another, not in our lifetimes.

Tx for the memory.....360

I should add there's only one definition of a true great and that is one who the world over is respected and admired by fellow true greats.

There is an aura amongst true greats, greats like my all time favourite Viv Richards and others like Ponting, Tendulkar and Lara......bowlers either feared or respected them.....sometimes even both......360 takes his place amongst those greats.
