Problem is we did - not the batsmen, but two of our bowlers and some of our fielders. The loss was in the main due to the these two problems. As it is - it was the worst fielding display i have ever seen of the Proteas.
The selection of the injury-prone Philander in the first place and replacing him with the joke Behardien when he left the field were bad news.

I don't agree Mike. New Zealand also battled in the field. I think the conditions were just difficult. I agree with the Philander call, would rather have had Abbot, but there are no guarantees. Abbot has also not had the best tournament, and he could also have flopped under the pressure of a semi final. I found Steyn most disappointing of all.
But to get back to the point, we did not choke, we competed to the end with a very strong opponent. It could so easily have been a different result. If the Proteas had just hung on to the Elliott catch in the penultimate over we would probably have won. It was a close game and someone had to lose, unfortunately it was us, but I don't think we folded under the pressure and gave the game away, as a "CHOKE' would suggest.

Blue, the definition of 'choke' is subjective, & to some, only winning the Cup will remove that tag .

Race plays it's part in every aspect of South African society.
We have a choice of either supporting the demographically correct national sides that the government forces upon us ... or we could cheer for another country's national side and feel like a twat doing so.
By cheering for our quota teams we are in fact supporting this racist government and it's interference.
We therefore don't have the right to bit-ch, cause that's the cost of being politically correct.
Suck it up boys!!

Could there be another country on planet earth where there's govt interference that enforces sporting selections based on a person's race ? apart from MugabeLand .
Must be yet another uniquely SA experience .

On merit there were at least three clearcut racial selections in that squat, namely Parnell, Behardien and Phangiso. That made up the 15 man squad as having 8 Whites and 7 players of colour. Any other distribution would have been unacceptable to the Government.
Now lets look at the performances of the players:-
Whites
* De Kock - somewhat disappointing in batting* Steyn - big bowling disappointment
Other Races
* Amla - somewhat disappointing in batting - not up to his normal high standards* Behardien - a serious embarrassment* Parnell - iffy at bes, normally sub-par* Philander - off the boil in bowling and injury-prone* Phangiso - never played a game
One can say that Amla's rather subdued performance was surprising and there has always been question marks about Philander as an ODI player - but the other three mentioned were sub-standard players where race became the deciding factor in squad selection .
