….just when some thought Bavuma was done. Klaasen contributed a superb 7 not out.

Mozart

One good score in 5 matches rates below par.   But then you do not see the trends in players - is why Bavuma remains a sub-standard player.

R Hendricks is my guy. I'd pick him in all formats.

Bavuma had a one-off innings against some seriously weak opposition after we'd already won the series without his help.

Do note how the side was stacked with ARs. I think they must be reading this forum haha.

For T20, specialist bowlers are a waste. Have one if you must but the law of averages in the shorter format says that regardless of your bowling attack, opposition scores won't vary too drastically.

The advantage of adding two or three extra batters easily compensates for the slightly more runs scored by opposition against your weaker bowling attack while offering guys up the other more freedom to go harder.

Just like Mozart - strings of poor performances and one good one againbst a weak attacking team is just what he believes in as good for the team in the long run.    when De k ock saved the team from embarrassment we did not have the same headlines at all.

Ock will inevitably resume normal, mediocre service the moment the pressure is back on. Great when the going is easy and you don’t need him, a failure when you are relying on him.

Moz you’re talking nonsense about de Kock. Why don’t you like him? He’s often pulled us out of shit or won games from the top of the order. He stands out for us time after time. Don’t judge a player by the size of their brain. Plum. Hendricks lions good all the time, but too often he fails to convert. I wish he’d get on a run of fifties and hundreds so he can cement his place.

Gosh Chipp-ou you really know how to hurt a guy. I’d like to believe you’re right but all I can conjure up is the deer in the headlights in the WC.

He’s great against Sri Lanka at home though.

Chip, we don't need a team of converters right now. Rather, we need it but can't get it.

The next best thing is to stack the batting line-up with potential.

This kak of having 3 or 4 specialist bowlers is for sides with an established top 6. We're as far away from that as we've been for over a decade and a half.

Let's hit big totals and build confidence from there.

We were always built confidence from bowling and near perfect fielding.

20 years ago, Draad.

Before big scores became the norm.

Nope, not that long ago...try less than 5...that does not mean we shouldn't try it your way...

We had a great team less than 5 years ago...in tests and ODI's...20/20 was never our thing, regardless of the good results at times...we need a new approach.

Draad, I beg to differ RE our fielding. Around 2000 was when we went entire seasons without dropping a catch. That was when we were known as easily the best fielding side in the world and when all the Kiwis began naming their sons Jonty.

Bowling, I can see what you're saying, because it took a while before Pollock was joined by Steyn and Morkel.

That attack, with Steyn opening, and Morkel or Pollock at first change was very tough to deal with. Late swing, accuracy and uncomfortable bounce was a wicked combo on any track, even the flat meadows on the sub-continent.
