"You have got to draw the line somewhere"

Fully agreed

Not too long ago, there was a policeman in the USA who took the knee... just to keep the peace with some BLM supporters, but he said it was the hardest thing he ever had to do, because it went against every single thing that he ever believed in, regarding human rights, freedom of speech etc etc

When interviewed much later, this policeman said it had got so bad, that he could not sleep, because he hated the fact that he had capitulated, just to keep a group of people that he didn't even know.. happy.... so much so, that at one stage he even considered suicide because he believes he embarrassed himself by not standing up for his own personal beliefs, and he stated that he had lost his integrity by that specific single action of taking the knee and being subservient to someone or something else... and he believed he would never get his integrity back because he did not stay standing for what he truly believed in.

He said that one single action of his, has haunted him ever since.

You do at some point have to draw a line in the sand..... sometimes the circumstances of the situation leaves you with no other choice but to .

"this might even be a case of a religious objection without making too much of it."

Yep, and if it was, I wonder how CSA would react

Just imagine an atheist or a Muslim is being forced to kneel before the pope or some Christian altar or something before representing their country...can you imagine the sh!tstorm.

Moz makes a good point and isn’t wrong from what’s good for the individual in this particular instance. However, as Draad says, somebody needs to draw the line somewhere as it will smooth road for others to follow and/or perhaps give people a figure to rally behind. One thing is certain, this bullshit has to be fought against tooth and nail. Is it a personally poor decision for Quintie? Yep. Do we need prominent people to stand up? Yes we do. Ultimately, one has to appreciate the sacrifice, whether Quintie knows or intends for it to be a sacrifice or not.

Some people claim the right to "the only way"..."the only truth"...their way or get canceled...remember people burning heretics at the stake?...cancel culture sounds frightfully similar...

If we don't put a stop to this nonsense now, it will only get worse.

Some of us only kneel to pray or to help a fallen friend...not for causes,  no matter how noble...

PS...not saying that's his cause though.
