Cricket South Africa admit failure

Cricket South Africa (CSA) have admitted they failed as an organisation to eradicate racial discrimination within the Proteas national team over the years.

“We‚ as the national federation‚ accept that as much as we agitated for redress‚ and transformation‚ we were not successful in eradicating the creation of some players in favoured positions pushing black players into the margins and not providing fairness and justice for all‚” CSA said in a statement from the interim board on Tuesday.

CSA acknowledged this as the organisation announced that it’s newly appointed transformation ombudsperson‚ advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza‚ is ready to receive submissions.

The submissions must be made via e-mail and post before the end of April.

“The Cricket South Africa transformation committee as mandated by the board to establish the office of the transformation ombudsman‚ has progressed to a stage where this office can now receive complaints and/or submissions from former players‚ current players‚ coaches‚ administrators‚ and stakeholders‚” reads the statement.

“All parties are invited to make written submissions to the transformation ombudsman.”

Ntsebeza’s appointment as the transformation ombudsperson was announced in August last year but the project was put on hold by the interim board shortly after they were appointed by sports minister Nathi Mthethwa in October.

Obviously if one follows only test cricket you would never see the talent that was unfairly ‘pushed into the margins’. Would those who get to see local cricket tell us who these players are?

Fact  is that if you look at the top batsmen  on provincial level  they are all White and the real reason why the  Proteas  lost so many matches  over the last two years can be linked to the fact  that  the performances of the White players in the team at present  on provincial level are far below those  who  are ignored  by  the selectors.

As to Black batsmen  the situation is so bad  that the best  one of  them Bavuma  would not e in any other international team and is in fact a quota player at best,

As to the All-Rounders the only one actually selected for the Proteas is Phehlukwayo  and although Dave is praising him  - his performance on provincial level is atrocious.   

Four  Black  fast bowlers are good enough to be in the team, but the best fast bowler at present is Nortje,    As to spinners  the best two are  Indians.

There is even a worse  provincial level  problem because of  discrimination against Whites through exclusion frim teams and some players lost hope and left the sport while others are playing  in other countries - even on  international level   

I'm crying out for a black batsman that deserves his spot on merit.

Would solve so many issues.

It's just a big fckup...you can't force demographics on sport...its society that needs fixing...and the results will follow.

Real supporters of a sport should be colorblind...pity we're still stuck in Apartheid.
