Still on cricket did any of you folks watch the Green batting performance against India.

Sure did, I posted about him 2 years ago, he's the real deal and fulfilling his potential as  many have predicted.

He suffered a serious back issue and was away from the game for a lengthy period, upon his return it was decided that his bowling would be restricted.

Well Kaptein delivered once more.

But what a poor performance from most of the team.

The bowling was shit as was the batting except for De Kock and Bavuma.

Stubbs has never performed well in the Protea squad with the bat and his place must be questioned after this game and the SA T20 games poor performances.

"Jangles" Ngidi is useless and is not a top class bowler in any shape or form but unfortunately does have the major requirement for selection.

After this show the manager and coaches must be rolling the "OLD bones" method for selecting the team for the next game.

Perhaps the old custom method is better that them selecting.

Kolisi...atleast for him a case can be made that he's there on merit....sort of...

Kolisi is one of the worst non-whites to ever represent South Africa. Chiliboy didn't want to captain the side because he felt he was a political pawn, it took persuasion. Tyibilika rejected a call-up for the same reasons, but Jake talked him out of it. People can make a stand if they choose to. The likes of Bavuma and Kolisi don't and won't because the perks are too good to turn down. These are not honest people with good character.

Well unfortunately the tables have been turned and we now have to abide by the party in power set of rules.

Kolisi was never the better flank to represent the Boks but he was selected and made Captain by decree and that is that.

In his defence he has had a few good appearances as a player but as a captain he is certainly wanting.

Captains are not created they either have the skill, respect and personality or they don't.

But I for one think he has had his run and should move on.

Bavuma is a different case his family is deeply involved in ANC politics and this is not acceptable to the regular cricket follower.

Making him captain has cast a shadow over him as a player with political support for all around him off the field and has sadly added additional pressure on him as a player.

He has the batting skills to perform as we have recently witnessed but unfortunately the political ties will always surround him as a player and captain.

Simple, sport and politics never ever go together.

Well played century by Bavuma, but it was all for nothing...he couldn't get over the line...

Anyone to captain but him. Both Rabada and Ngidi are great cricketers and well spoken....if we must have a black African captain, they are more than capable enough...the midget is almost there, but not quite...and he's been almost there for years now...

Kolisi has had some good moments. He has never in his entire career had a solid test. I have seen most of several of his season at Super Rugby level, and nothing ever stood out as warranting selection for the Boks. He is a feel-good story and the right colour. Nothing more. He isn't even a forward, merely a big back. Stastistics show that Bavuma is more of the same. There is no defence for either one.

Dentsie, i thought i told you to to ask me for your cricket opinions. Hilarious…watching Dentsie, a girl that will literally never put her neck out by actually having an opinion, call Deus names…a chap that lives with his neck out and and is always giving analysis and opinions. Dentsie is just barely smart enough to realise that he should be very insecure in the present company. Which makes it all the funnier :)

Doos XL

You're confused.

We're talking cricket not rugby.

How on earth can one compare cricket stats with rugby stats.....hilarious.

And OBTW.....Temba Bavuma, your royal ignorance, has an ODI average of 50.19

Now stop evading my question........who would you choose as the ODI captain from the current squad?

Am I confused? Lefties can never stay on point. The comparison was made between Kolisi and Bavuma. I put them in context. I didn't compare cricket stats with rugby stats. Yes, hilarious indeed. evading a question? I don't care to make a call for who should be captain. I merely think its obvious to even those who don't follow the game closely that this is not the right man for the job. Now go have Mrs Searle tend to your hemorrhoids, they're clearly bothering you.

Doos XL

Statistics show that Bavuma is more of the same.

They do?

Really?

Damned if I know how anyone can foolishly compare the statistics of two different players across two completely different sports and then argue that it's in context, if not hilarious then it's plain damn dumb.

But here's the thing, I'll cut you some slack on condition that you quote any ODI batting stat superior to Bavuma's from any other player in the squad.

Go for it!

There are one of two things happening here. Full-O-Dentsie is either far dumber than he suggests anyone else is or he’s simply too frightened to further the debate so chooses to say that Deus is comparing rugby and cricket stats when he’s clearly not. “The straw man fallacy avoids the opponent’s actual argument and instead argues against an inaccurate caricature of it.” Just stop it, you cowardly mong.

Jansen proves his worth once more. Great knock from Klaasen too. Klaasen is a naturally aggressive player and I can't see why he shouldn't approach his test batting in the same way.
I liked the team composition today. Long tail with lots of all-rounders and only Ngidi really weak with the bat.
While we don't have the superstar batters of yesteryear, the team is far better off with a long tail even if we give a little away in the bowling department.
Again...Dentsie, I'm not gonna tell you where I bought my crystal ball because this is exactly the type of side I said we needed and it's exactly what management has done.
