Steyntjie working into some form, not quite there  yet but close enough, also nice to see the average Abbott bowling some nice lines, if he keeps it up he might turn into a decent bowler.

Seems like  the wickets are quite unforgiving, the bowler cannot afford to bowl to straight or stray down legside. Even the short ball is treated with contempt, so really the bowler has a vey narrow line  to operate in.

Our chaps need to get it right.

Yeah Steyn needed that and Abbott is bowling like he did when he first played for SA in that test.

I'm getting a bit more elevation on Abbott.....he bowled some nice yorkers on demand. Can he bowl to when we are under the cosh though?

The odd thing is Dave, he has all the tools of a guy like Southey and about the same pace. And how much better is he than the Irish bowlers! Still I can't help but remember him losing it bowling the last overs earlier this season. Will he hold his nerve bowling the in the last 5 overs of a WC semi....I doubt it.

Agreed, but hopefully we will not be relying on him as he should be warming the bench come the semi's

"I'm getting a bit more elevation on Abbott . . ."
Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit more information than was needed?

Our bats need to win it for us by either posting big totals or weathering the pressure chasing. Our bowling is our weak point.

Nonsense, our bowling isn't weak at all. Just because this rather silly version of the game puts such a premium on batting doesn't mean that guys like Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Tahir are suddenly crap bowlers.

I could be way off target now, but the little I saw from Southee gave me the impression that he gets many wickets by bowling with speed/semi fast into the blockhole. Not many batters can play these balls (AB do it with ease though) and are often clean bowled, trapped LBW or nick the ball for the keeper/slip to catch. Some batsmen try to convert such a delivery into a full toss by stepping out of their batting crease only to miss and be stumped.

Spot-on Bliks, noticed it as well, my feelings and I'll say it again is  that the wickets have been prepared to favour the batsmen, the yorker becomes a major strike weapon. The Kiwi Trent  Boult is the best exponent from what I've seen so far, none of our blokes seem to use it much and on the rare occurrence when they do then it's not a good one.

I'd love to see Dale shoot one through every so now and then at around the high 145's.

Actually, Morkel with his height spearing one in would be highly effective.
