Been following this World Cup in NZ with some exciting finishes and some excellent ladies cricket.

The SA side is 2 for 2 with a game coming up against England on Monday.

Worth watching with most games being won or lost in the final few overs.

Enjoy.

Been watching women's cricket for a while now, they're really into it, good technique and bold in attitude. Like the way the Proteas go about their work, sharp and fearless in attitude they've yet to play their best game in the current tournament but that will come. With one Tannie in the team how can they go wrong

I watched the highlights of the natch  vs Pakistan last night...nice team spirit they've got going, with a few world class players...maybe they can do what our men could never do...

The SA side have a difficult road left in this WC.

England, WI, India, Aus. and NZ. are all going to require the very best from the SA ladies.

Hopefully they will be able to deliver and go all the way.

Impressed with the SA wicketkeeper both behind the stumps and with the bat.

Go Ladies Go.

Think our girls are a bit inexperienced at this level but I expect they'll be competitive against all teams. There's the usual suspects to contend with(Oz, India and NZ) but I wouldn't write off our chances, matter of fact it wouldn't surprise me if they go all the way.

And yes I like the wickie as well and Shabnim Ismail with the ball is a star.

Would be great for woman's cricket in RSA if they could make the final.

Fingers crossed.

What a result.

Well done to all, you are a team with spirt, stay focused.

First time in 22 years I believe that SA beat England in this format of the game.

What a time to pull off such a great win.

But that said it was exciting, great display of determination on the part of the SA players and a deserving result to boot.

A fantastic result for SA woman's cricket.

Stay focused ladies.

As if our girls haven't had enough bad luck with star captain and player Dane Van Niekerk twisting her ankle in a freak accident a couple of weeks before the team was  to fly out causing her non selection. Star bowler Ismail had to abandon all hopes of bowling after injuring her toe in the match against England, she'll probably be rested for the next match against NZ. The time has now come for the team to step up after riding their luck against England especially with regards to batting after England fluffed several dropped chances. Tannie Lee needs to occupy the crease a bit longer, Brits is an excellent first drop and Luus looks like she has all the necessities to be world class.

But kudus to a well drilled team who looked toast at 169-5......once again another fearless performance.

Well the next two or three games will be a true test for the SA side.

Pity that Ismail is injured and hope that she will be available as she is crucial to the SA attack.

All the best ladies, go get them and make sure you get the runs to win.

I'm predicting a Protea wins against NZ and India but a loss against Oz.

Here's the thing about Ismail.....she's the second fastest seam bowler in the tournament at 123km/h  which puts her on a par with Dwaine Pretorius who as well as having an IPL contract is in the Protea male squad.

Go figure.

What a win for the ladies.

Denny, once more you are correct with your prediction.

I also agree with you prediction regarding Australia.

The next game should see the team into the semi and then we require all players to deliver with bat, ball and in the field.

Tannie needs to pay attention as to what is going on when batting....

Her run out in this game was due to her lack of concentration and a poor of example of being focused when batting.

Some of her strokes were great but she needs to help the opening pair build a base for the team.

She has been a failure each time at the crease, simply not good enough and her failings have placed greater pressure on the rest of the team.

Ismail again showed her skill and determination with the ball and in the field even with her toe injury.

Once more Kapp has shown her class with ball and bat and her performance raises the game of her team mates.

All in all another excellent performance from the team and trust that all the bowlers will recover fully from their injuries.

Onward and upward Proteas.

AJH mentioned

England, WI, India, Aus. and NZ.

England and NZ got beaten and the Indian female team is not that hot.  If they say focused they can beat both India and the WI - but Australia is a different kettle of fish.    They will need a lot of luck to beat them.

Kapp is world class so is Laura, that said the team has scope, I'm looking for better batting from Tannie Lee and Brits and better bowling from the 4th and 5th bowlers who are the weakness in the team. Khaka bowls a good line but lacks consistency, Brits needs to back herself against tight pace attack in the same way she backs herself against spin......she's allowing far too many dot balls. Luus has a big role to play......good with the willow but too loose with the ball. So there, the team as I've said has plenty of room for improvement and I hope they get it together before facing a formidable Oz. I haven't given up on Tannie Lee she played some nice shots before her unfortunate runout........baby elephants are not built for speed

The team is building nicely and I'll be happy if they finish second on the ladder before going into the semi finals, meaning #1 vs #3 and #2 vs #4  with an Oz/Protea final.

The team is comprised of some outstanding individuals.......enough to beat the formidable Ozzies? don't know but it will help if some of the underperformers put in with a few good scores. I get the feeling we're in for a great game. My go to players are Ismail, Laura, Marizanne and Luus but we need Chloe, Tannie Lee and Khaka to put their hands up.

Outgunned to put it bluntly.

After a promising start at bat and a score that was not out of reach of the Aussie team sadly.

The SA attack with the ball appeared to be lacking the sharpness that they displayed in earlier games.

Was this perhaps due to injuries or the Aussie batting.

Both I think played a big part in the final result.

But the SA team are still in the hunt and two more wins will see them into the semis with another game with the Aussies in the final.

HOPEFULLY.

This loss can potentially be like the Springbok loss to NZ in the group stage of 2019RWC...places us better statistically. We still have 2 matches to qualify for the last 4...only need on victory...

DbD you are correct but that said if it is Proteas against OZ in the final or semis I fear that we will not win.

But being runners up in the WC is no disgrace and they can all return to RSA with their heads held high.

They all did SA proud.

"Outgunned"? Sure looks like that on the scoresheet but if one drills down into the game then perhaps there's another story to be told. Like for example Meg Lanning who went onto score half the Protea total(135), dropped when she was on 8,  as a matter of fact she was dropped twice and in total our girls dropped 4 catches. What makes it worse is that none of the other Ozzie girls went on to score big, none of them scored close to 50 runs. There were other contributing factors that br ought about the Proteas demise like for example the replacement of regular 5th bowler Klaas who was injured also the Proteas didn't score enough runs but the most damning thing was the amount of dropped catches. The main culprit being Tannie Lee who never looked like catching two sitters. There cannot be any confidence on where to field her.

Denny you are correct about the missed opportunities but give credit to the Aussie girls.

They are confidence, focus, skilled with a touch of brilliance in their squad.

They are without doubt the best squad at the WC.

SA had their chances but you cannot win top class games without setting a score that would allow your depleted bowling attack some room against a top batting side.

The injuries are unfortunate but the replacements tried their best.

Britz and her replacement in this game are perhaps more suited to Test cricket than these one day games and the next batter caught a great catch but also has not delivered thus far in this WC with the bat.

But on the positive side we are still in their with a slim chance.

Vasbyt.

"South Africa have qualified for the World Cup semi-finals after rain washed out their match against West Indies in Wellington. Only 10.5 overs were possible after a delay of more than four hours that saw play get underway after 3pm local time and South Africa were in trouble at 61 for 4. But persistent rain meant no further play was possible."

Some luck, but WTH, nice to go into the last group match with the pressure off.

Read  somewhere that the usual semi games rules had been altered.

Yes the England  semi will be a tough game.

But what a nail biter this game against India turned out to be.

The ladies persevered and thankfully we have one or two players who always rise to the challenge.

Onward and upward ladies.

Yes, in an instant, without any help from Google. It's Florence Griffiths Joyner and it's 10.49 seconds. She set it more than 25 years ago and the record still stands, together with her 200m world record.
Who doesn't know that?

OUTGUNNED no other word for it.

Dropped catches supported with poor bowling and a dismal batting performance in this semi final game.

Tannie has been a flop with fielding, batting and cricket in this WC.

The amount of dropped catches is unbelievable and disappointing.

By the way that world record will always be suspect.

Plum if you have a relative or close friends daughter in the squad perhaps you would be watching and cheering them on just as we are.

But different strokes for different folks I guess.

A SA school friend of our daughter has a team member in the squad, thus the original interest.

This is the first time we have watched the WWC and must say it is more enjoyable than the IPL for us.

Encouraging to see the bond between the players pity this is so recent though.

All those wasted years for WHAT?

Get my drift.

Agreed AJ For me there would have to be some factor outside of the skill levels on display in order to draw my interest. I feel like they need to change the format, rules or some other aspect of the game to make it unique to the women’s version. Currently, all they do is bring the boundary in a little. The net result being that that it is just a worse version of the men’s game.
