Because i know you love it so much when I make these threads for you, and because I’m waiting outside the mall, I thought I’d add another to the list;
Previously, in a similar thread, you said that with enough time and slaves, one could achieve most of what the ancient world achieved in terms of their megalithic accomplishments.
To a large degree, I agree with you.
Where your answer falls short is when we arrive at precision.
Time does offer resultant precision in the short term. But if, five thousand years ago, i gave you 1 day or 1 year to draw the straightest line that you could, it wouldn’t make much difference to the outcome. At some point, manpower and time become irrelevant, unless you are talking about giving a civilisation enough time to develop technology, and the work you produce comes once the technology has been developed.
So, here is the question;
How is it possible for a granite box to have been carved to an average flatness of 5/1000 of an inch across its surfaces, 5000 years ago?
A level of flatness that was not able to measured until just over a century ago.
And here is a bonus question…
I’d like you to add an option (c) below;
Achieving extreme levels precision when working in some of the hardest materials known was
a) a byproduct of the tools used in the machining process.
b) can be said to be for a practical purpose when the precision involved is so high that it’s imperceptible to the human eye.

c)

Ag, I know he appreciates the odd post made for/to him.
Even if he’s disinterested, it’s the gesture that matters.
At the very least, it offers him the the opportunity to have a dig, which we all know he appreciates to no end.
Apart from the cowardly moles types, everybody contributes and we all keep coming back for more.
Perhaps it’s good to remember that from time to time.

I’d just like to know what the point of extreme precision is unless it’s simply a byproduct of the machinery you’re using or is functional.
I thought ou RooiBalls would have a stab at it…but alas, the wet panty remains wet, and panty’ish.

That doesn't make sense, ButtPlug. I've never claimed to be any kind of expert on engineering, Egyptology or mathematics, yet here you have ou Maaik - a self-professed expert in these fields who has read up extensively on Egypt and ancient stuctures - willing to answer all your questions.
Look, I know I schooled you on that thread I linked for you, but that's not because I'm an expert, it's because you're a bit dim and also because you start disagreeing with the other person before you've understood or even bothered reading what they're saying. Ou Maaik is the expert who's researched all this stuff, why wouldn't you ask him instead?
