The "E" in South Africa stands for electricity........latest joke from the not very funny Economist.....man they need somebody competent to take over this mess. The country's reputation and it's economy are being destroyed.

Unfortunately most of the folks think "E" means each for themselves.

Most competent folks would not touch this or any other state owned company as the leaders of the country are skimming most if not all profits for themselves and beware anyone who gets in the way.

The country is in dire straights and those who are fortunate enough  to have a few bucks are shipping it out.

The country we knew has been raped, blundered, destroyed and forever changed it is going to need a miracle to ever be a productive member in modern civilization.

CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY.

When the African government took over many were dubious, but did anyone think it could be this bad?  A few years after the end of Apartheid was the best time in SA, then things slowly started to decline, before the Zuma acceleration. No country would want to invest in South Africa, and even trading with them is risky.
Africa is not ready to run itself and should outsource the government to China. There is just too much corruption in African run governments, and each transaction is layered with a bribe so it is not the best people chosen for the job.

Good politicians like the finance minister who did not want to approve Zuma's private aeroplane are fired, and others that do not want to get involved in corruption are removed from influence.
If Africa was isolated from the rest of the world, one questions would they eventually have no electricity. Would the wheel and writing become things of the past?

There are signs that the electricity supply system ha s broken down and the Government is now trying to split Eskom into thee units - the first one being electricity supply,  the second one distribution and the third one sales,

The idea is to privatize a large component of the supply network to private service providers,  I think what is likely to happen is that Eskom will for instance sell off its older power plants and when upgraded by the private sector developers - buy the electricity from them for distribution.   The same applies to the enlargements of sun and wind electricity schemes  by the private sector - who will feed their supplies into the national grid,

South Africa is a total mess.   Most of the older Blacks feel that they were better off under the previous government than they are now,  They felt safer and food supply was better and the Government helped the Black farmers to produce more food, while there were some order in schools,   Things were not what it should have been - but the present chaos was not in evidence,

Africans will never be suited to positions of leadership.

They don't have the brain capacity to make a success of anything. They are self serving, corrupt, without integrity, morals and destroy as far as they go.

Their only skill is to come up with ways on how to steal. Even the things that are bolted down aren't safe.

They are a useless species. Inferior to every other species of man on the planet and sadly that will never change.

All this while the gas industry in SA gets zero government subsidy.

The most viable alternative to electricity with the most potential to lighten the load on Eskom...And the government literally does nothing to help.

What they don't fail to do is to send one of their goons to every gas conference held in the country. They book them a front row seat and their only job is to turn up and ask every speaker, every panel and every entrepreneur..."What are you doing to transform the gas industry."

To understand what idiocy this is, you'll need some background. There are 1500 active gas practitioners in SA. The course to become one is R15k.

That means, just a R1.5million investment from the government would add 10% to the active installers register. R15 million would see them train up 1000 installers...That's an additional 66%% gas installers.

This is after the gas industry pumps hundreds of millions of tax rand into the economy annually. This is the level of shortsightedness SA's leaders have built into their peanuts.

My Canada plans are rolling along swiftly now and I can't wait to say goodbye to this dumpster fire.

Thing is though ... as soon they get their hands on the gas, that too will turn to shit.

They will empty the coffers within the first few months and then demand the government bail them out.

There isn't a single institution in the country that hasn't been raped and destroyed by an African.

Not one.

Why the governing authorities back in the day never insisted on mandatory sterilization of every African adult is beyond me.

There are decent honorable black people. Unfortunately the self serving, racist gutter came to power.

This is terribly unfortunate as South Africa is a wealthy country well capable of sustaining all its people. But the people believe the lies of their leaders and their divisive policies. Tragic.

The pound is now worth over 19 Rand! Seems likely that over the long term it will continue to weaken.
