The man who died was in his 50s, unvaccinated and had previously been infected with COVID-19.
Goes to show natural immunity is not as good as the vaccine AND natural immunity from past infection.
First person in America to die from Omicron previously infected with Covid.
What was he suffering from when getting infected? Would the vaccine prevented him from getting sick and dying if he had other morbidities? . Most of those were fully vaccinated - like that singer for example. Science has proved one thing -vaccination does not stop spreading and wears off after a while.
Not sure if this person suffered from anything except stupidity.
It does show that natural immunity wears off, as does the vaccine.
The numbers clearly support vaccination, even if boosters are needed until a better vaccine is found. Numbers are not ideology, they are facts- unless you live in another universe.
Must have been a Demorat who died because according to Sharktwat he was stupid.
For a moment I was thinking that perhaps it was the Top Dog.
Oh well.
"The numbers say the vaccine is much safer than the disease. "
Absolute BS...and you know it...stop lying Snarkhole...the stats in South Africa is way more relevant than the one Omicron death in the USA...funny how the only details known about that individual is that he hasn't been vaxxed and that he had covid before...almost as if they were trying to push some agenda...
Exactly - SB is always advancing the BS propaganda of the Democrats and their flop President supported by the media.
- New COVID-19 data from South Africa points to fewer hospitalizations and deaths than past infection surges.
- Dr. Scott Gottlieb shared a series of graphs on Twitter that suggest Omicron's impact is less severe.
- But scientists have stressed the likelihood that high population immunity is playing a role.
New COVID-19 data out of South Africa, which has been ravaged by the Omicron variant in recent weeks, suggests the current surge has resulted in far fewer deaths than previous surges with similar case numbers.
Dr. Scott Gottlieb, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and former FDA commissioner, shared a series of graphs to Twitter on Thursday, highlighting the impact of Omicron on South Africa, which was first to sequence the new variant.
In the Gauteng province of South Africa, an area that was hit particularly hard by Omicron, the number of daily hospitalizations and deaths in the past month has been substantially fewer than previous COVID-19 peaks in the area throughout the pandemic.
The graphs, created by AEI using data from South Africa's National Institute for Communicable Diseases and Our World in Data, compare the current Omicron surge to three previous peaks in the country in July 2020, January 2021, and July 2021.
