France has a fifth of the US population so it’s incredible 501000 cases today would be equivalent to the US racking up 2 million cases.

Australia’s recent 154000 cases was also the equivalent of 2 million US cases.

Two countries who had a lot to say about Covid looking stupid.

Now that everyone is vaccinated, or at least offered a vaccine - countries are learning to live with Covid.
Lockdowns are minimal because death rates are much lower thanks to getting vaccinated. Less pressure and not running out of hospital beds.
The US and UK lost control of Covid from the outset by not following the scientific plan of locking down properly to control spread until vaccines were available. Lockdowns dragged for ages, while other countries used more effective contact tracing to eliminate Covid.
Trump was on Twitter telling people to rebel against lockdown, contradicting the Whitehouse official stance, Boris Johnston was having Covid parties.

With Omicron, lockdowns are now useless - but it is fine now because the vaccine and a weaker variant.
People can and will continue to get Covid multiple times. So getting it early on was not a good idea, when it was stronger and no vaccine.

I am glad I did not get the first variant

I have no idea at all how much more it would have affected me, but I am extremely glad that I got the later variant.

Pot Kettle Black.

Moz with the trade mark cherry picking to support his arguments this time picking a single day to compare countries. You know the pandemic is ongoing like two years right and that there is a significant difference between high levels of the original and delta variants of Covid running amuck in an unvaccinated population and admittedly way higher levels of a less dangerous but more contagious variant in a mostly vaccinated population?

Australia has done miles better than the US in terms of both cases and deaths. France is actually slightly worse for cases but has done a fair bit better in terms of death rates. Considering America is the richest, most advanced and powerful country in the world, their handling of the pandemic can be rated as piss poor.

Also how did France and Australia had a lot to say on Covid anymore than other country did. All countries had their own methods in dealing with Covid.

Nope not cherry picking ….maximum picking. I’m picking the top rates per day ever achieved by countries in comparison to the US.  This as a proxy for losing control

As for inappropriate comparisons ….you are being totally dishonest. Australia has a much less urbanized environment and also a climate that produces outdoor living and it’s an island. The population I suspect is younger and certainly fitter than the UK or USA. And yet their daily maximum is more than twice that of the USA

The virus doesn’t respect power or advanced education, it’s driven by factors like social behavior, age of population, racial make up, health and obesity, climate, travel and a host of other factors.

The USA hasn’t had a high rate of Covid in spite of being rich, it’s had a high rate because it’s rich  and mobile. Trademark misinterpretation of the data by Anger.

Australia has hit 80 deaths per day, and their wave looks like it is already starting to peak.

The South African patern shows the pandemic is almost at an end, even with a barley vaccinated populace.

Draad, what surprises me is that South African reported cases have been going down for ages now.
However, the death rate has remained high.
