We have in the 17 hours today only had electricity for 9,5 hours.   Three period of load-shedding of  2,5 hours each.

Have anybody else have similar problems in the areas where they live.   I have the generator run - but petrol is so expensive it cost about a R100 to run the generator for the full two hours.

Mike, the average IQ in SA is 77. it’s a miracle that most people know how to use a light switch.

We have it in our cabin for communications and lights and it works well.

Cooking we either braai or use gas,

I use a gas stove - but have had a very expensive solar energy and wind system installed in my house in Tinley Manor and the outcome was still inadequate - I dare not put on my television because I would run out of power within hours, while the sun-electricity did help me slightly because I had warm water provided through sun electricity, but even that was inadequate since there were two guessers in the house and only one was connected to the system.   I did not gain any savings from the installation and it gave me a rude awakening of what was really the impact.    You need a much bigger and better system to cater for actual electricity needs in homes than I could afford.     I favor mass production of wind and sun electricity and distribution as part of the green strategy - but even in those there are limitations.

Maaik...a small generator solves most of those problems...lights, TV and internet...you've already got a gas stove, so you should be sorted. just make sure you have a proper regulator on it and you don't overload it.
