The IPCC's body of work outlines how enteric fermentation from livestock affects the atmosphere and therefore the world's environment. The IPPC's research is frequently cited by scientists and government agencies, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), when they argue that emissions from the world's livestock have a higher carbon footprint than those from the global transportation sector.
....
The alternative is of course to forget this nonsense....a warmer planet is a better planet, but we we are more likely to get that result from cows than humans.

Well if I go from a 12 oz to an 8 oz I'm doing a lot more in terms of percentages than the Paris Climate Accord....now if Branson would just stop flying his jet....

So far an increase of 1.2 degrees centigrade since the Industrial Revolution.....0.6 of which occurred before 1940 when the CO2 increase was tiny.
Those facts are not in dispute.

Answer is very simple. Humans must stop breeding at an unsustainable rate. The world must do as China did and force people to have one child only. Reduce human population, and just about all the environmental issues in the world will be resolved. Unfortunately governments can't tax that into being, so rather blame CO2, and make money.

Vast strides are being made in the US in cleaning up the environment. The Great Lakes are much purer than they were 50 years ago.
Contrary to the howls of left wing nutters, this is being done by companies....not out of the goodness of their hearts, but because it is good business. You avoid the costly law suits and improve your image.
A company I was involved with a while back totally restored a segement of a river....took it back to pre industrial condition. It cost money but it was advisable.
That's the democracy of capitalism. Citizens have beliefs in social goals and companies see an economic interest in helping to fulfill them.
But I agree population growth needs to be addressed. Many of these people are the responsibility of tax payers the moment they are born. If you have no reasonable prospect of supporting your children, you have no business having them. Which is not to say wealthy people should be having large families either.

Moz, that is the "democracy of capitalism" applicable in the US, but in South Africa, and most of the rest of the world, there is so much corruption and general lawlessness that corporates will never be held accountable or even be exposed for the environmental damage they have caused. they therefore have almost complete disregard such things.

Biggest polluters.....Russia, India and China. No country produced more pollution per unit of GNP than Russia....the country of the people.
Democracy plus capitalism is the best bet for mankind.....not automatic as you point out Bloo, there needs to be accountability.
