It appears to have been a con by the mega-rich, who saw new EU tax regulations as fair.
It would have meant the end of the feudal era, and they would have no longer been above the law.

After the Covid pandemic fiasco and corruption like health contracts being awarded to lobbyists instead of health specialist companies, it is clear that Tories are only out for themselves.
They would leave the EU purely for themselves and rich campaign donors.

Compassion for the conned, contempt for the conmen.

Hopefully once Labour get into power the long term general direction of travel will be rejoining but an intermediary step of rejoining the single market would solve a lot of issues now facing the UK.

Yes, hopefully the EU will take us back.
The Polls are showing that the UK believe it was a mistake to leave the EU. Something like 70% believe leaving the EU was a mistake.

After the conduct of the Tory Party, it is obvious that it was the rich Eton club that were looking for their own interests.

What I cant understand is why are politicians not in court trials over the PPE fast lane scandal.
A so called third-world country would arrest their politicians for this type of fraud.

Much of the PPE acquired by lobbyists was scrapped for not meeting basic standards. Probably purchased on Ali-Express, the eBay version of Alibaba.

Specialist health companies tenders were ignored in favour of Lobbyists with no health expertise. Among those that won contracts include:
A pub owner that was a neighbour to Matt Hancock
An underwear model that moved into Lobbyism .

They pocketed billions

If the UK does rejoin it won't get as good as terms as it previously had but as long the EU are convinced that in the medium to long term the UK won't decided to leave again it will allow the UK in but it can't have another situation like Brexit which completely dominated the EU's agenda for years .
After the conduct of the Tory Party, it is obvious that it was the rich Eton club that were looking for their own interests.

Remember the Tories may have called the vote to appease the Euroskeptic ERG faction of its party but campaigned for remain. However leave won and the moderates of the party effectively felt obliged to hands over the reigns of power to the victorious factions  who then once in power purged the party of all its moderates and replaced them with incompetent ideologues

Most likely because most of the print media in the UK is pro Tory and the BBC are too scared to say anything critical of the Tory government for fear of getting its funding cut.

I recommend A Different Bias youtube channel. He covers UK politics and he doesn't hide the fact he's a Labour supporter but I've always found his information to be factually accurate.

GDP? That looks like population growth. I can assure you that the UK GDP is low, and the forecasts are glim

Can you paste that table into notepad on Windows, then paste it here.

It will remove the formatting and fix the margins

Those figures lack context.
The reason the UK has such strong GDP growth figures is that its economy dropped lower than other country during Covid and of all the G7 countries only the UK's economy has yet to recovery to its pre-pandemic size.
The idea the UK is doing well at the moment is laughable because even the UK government admit things are very tough in the UK at.the moment
The UK's central bank is saying the recession the UK is heading into could be the longest on record.

All the things effecting the global economy are hitting the UK as hard as anywhere else, but the UK is doing worse and that's because it alone also has Brexit to contend with. It can't get enough skilled immigrants in due to Brexit which has result in a labour shortage.
There is a myriad of other issues rejoin the single market would solve, particular this ongoing saga with Northern Ireland protocol and the fact the dispute over it has left Northern Ireland without a functioning government for a year or so already.

@Mozart, Thanks for fixing the margins

@Stav, the high court deemed it to be illegal, but their were no further action taken.
I am not sure who works on the High Court, and if the elite are just too powerful.

A complete audit should be done, to publish all transactions and to who the money went to.
Then the prosecutions should start. Hopefully Labour will open a proper investigation once they take control.
