In a society where the public can vote from their phones, one has to wonder what purpose members of parliament still serve? At the very least, their scope should be drastically decreased because representative government is nowhere near as necessary as it was fifty years ago. The technology is there and the population are able to represent themselves in most cases.
Instead of them casting your vote for you, their job should be one of clarifying the scope and consequences of legislation in order to enable the citizen to make informed decisions themselves.

Ofcourse I don't know everything about about Russia and it's leader but I've been there some long periods and made friends with students, old Russians as well. I trust what I see and experience and share views. All I can say is that they are very different from western people although they do have open minds and don't hate Americans or English people...unlike us who despise them simply because we fall victims to media that has hidden and evil agendas.

There is some truth to this, some who signed up to defend the country are members of neo-nazi organizations and did indeed put Nazi symbols on their helmets. However its not officially part of the Ukraine uniform. Does seem like a case that the Ukraine was willing to accept any and all volunteers who signed up to fight regardless of their background.

The Ukraine was looking west on its own accord and was close to signing an association agreement with the EU when the Russian leaning President Yanukovych started to back track, triggering the uprising that eventually overthrew him. Ukraine population has for a long time been split between the west leaning western part of the country and the Russian leaning eastern side of the country. The west leaning side does hold the majority though and it saw the refusal to sign the deal as Yanukovych pushing the country more towards Russia which they did not want.

Ukraine (means outskirts of something big) belongs to Russia, period. Before the USSR it was a land of nomadic "Dukes" with the Kiev being the main area controlled by Russia. During the Soviet Union Lenin formed a republic of Ukraine...the White Army fighting the Red Army and a lot of white russians were forced out. The question was made worse during Khrushchev whose wife was from region.
The communists made it a republic (as with other regions in USSR) but it always formed part of the bigger Russian Empire.
The only reason the Ukraine was become an issue is the USA and EU fear Russia and want it under their influence for strategic reasons...rather like Britain did not want the Falkland Is lost to Argentina ...but the Ukraine with bases on Blacksea is even more important.
