Actually right now they are quite a lot better.

While the US shuts down all commerce for weeks and destroys the economy, other countries like Sweden and Brazil are doing the opposite and allowing the China coronavirus to run its course.

Data indicates there no material differences in fatalities between the three countries leading the casual observer to question why is the US killing its economy?

The US continues to prevent nearly all commerce from occurring to combat the China coronavirus.  Many other countries are following suit.  But some countries like Sweden and Brazil are keeping their countries open for business.

Data shows that the fatalities related to the coronavirus in these countries are very similar to those in the US.

Sweden sees just 77 new deaths from coronavirus & number of new infections drops by a quarter to just 544 as nation continues to resist lockdown https://mol.im/a/8208397

Trump knows that the models have been horribly wrong and will provide economic facts from his to be formed economic council as to why the economy has to be opened.

Sweden is best compared to Denmark and Norway. Sweden has 1038 cases per million pop vs Denmark at 1066  cases and Norway at 1096. So in terms of cases they are very similar.

Death rates are higher in Sweden but the numbers are small so there may be an anomaly.....and in any case general social distancing affects getting the disease, not recovery rates. And clearly to date there is no incremental effect on infection rates with more draconian lockdowns among these 3 similar countries.

How this all works out is pretty instructive.

...Bean Brain Sweden has had 4200 deaths thus far...they have twice the population of NZ

so comparatively NZ would have had 2100 deaths by now if we had adopted the Swedish model

but we have only had 22...

Looking like Sweden's at tempt at achieving herd immunity has been a fatal mistake...

"This would mean that at the current rate of infection, it would take more than two years for Sweden to reach herd immunity and an additional 56,000 lives could be lost in the process, unless a vaccine or effective treatments are developed,"

As for Brazil i see it has become so bad that Fat Donny has closed the border to Brazilians... the two dumbest and most corrupt populist presidents have the highest infection rates in the world for some reason...

Swedens death figures do not include presumed or suspected cases of Covid 19, so in reality the number is likely higher than the current official figures and that's true for a lot of countries.

All the economic forecasts for Sweden predict the no lock approach won't save its economy from a severe economic contraction this year pretty much in line with forecasts for other European countries that did lock down.
