Bloody hell all I am was stating as there were known nazi sympathizers that openly supported Hitler in SA and some how I am insulting every South African. 

You lot are great at reading anything you want into a statement and then posting complete nonsense to make out I am insulting everyone.

It is noted I must never mention the Boer war either as only Boers are allowed to talk about it.

I can't but notice the quality of the posts of those opposing the proxy war. Those supporting the war actually have precious little of substance to say. All you get are emotive rants and wailing.

Sader, I have no problem with you discussing the Boer War and I am well aware of the Boer Nazi sympathisers during WWII...I take exception to the fact that you seem to think they would have been the majority if the Boers won the war...implying the majority of Afrikaners would have embraced Nazism...I had family fighting in North Africa, against these fckers...2 of my Grandfather's brothers...both survived but carried the scars...there were Nazi sympathizers in many Allied countries...thankfully a small minority worldwide.

PS: If it wasn't for the concentration camps in the Boer war, there would probably have been less Nazi sympathizers in SA in WWII .

I had a great uncle who fought in Greece,  Crete and North Africa as well.

Am no way did I intend to denigrate those that fought in anyway. We owe those men everything.

Bit getting back to the point, if the Boers had won that war and held power, being free of England would they have joined the Allied side especially how fresh the hatred for what the British did.

There was a lot of opposition in SA with many militants attacking those that chose to serve. 

I can not say either way as I don't have the facts to decide one way or the other. If anything I would think SA would possibly  have stay neutral?

You lot are more closely linked to the events over there what are your thoughts?

Also I didn't imply the majority, I clearly stated Boer militants. I have no idea if that was 10 people or half the male population.

Even after the Boer war, the Afrikaner was still at 60%-40% English and although there were some in politics who wanted to remain neutral, our parliament voted overwhelmingly to aid the Allied cause...The actual Nazi supporters was a fringe few...and that was only at the beginning of the war...Some of them later became influential in the ruling National party...John Voster becoming Prime Minister being the most notable.

 Jan Smuts was a Boer War general and he was actively supporting England and Churchill...there were even those who supported him for British PM if something happened to Churchill during the war...as insane as it sounds.

Remember the USA also started out as neutrals...

There is one rather problematic bit of history of which most people are ignorant.   After destroying the Afrikaans people in the Boer War - most of the people invovled had to move to the cities - especially Johannesburg to find work and they were getting the lowest imaginable income.   Most of the Afrikaans people in Johannesburg joined the trade unions predominated at the time by Communist sympathizers.    Many Afrikaans people in fact join the Communist Party.  One of the prominent ones was Bram Fischer - the son of the previous Prime Minster of the Free State after the Boer War.   Others include Sand du Plessis and Schoeman - the one later being the Administrator of the Free State and Minister Schoeman - in later life National Party Minister of Transport.

In both 2014 and 2021 there were bloody strikes organized by the labor unions and especially in 1921.   Sone of the Boer Commandos called up to subdue the Strike refused to fire on Afrikaans strikers.    Somme Boers were sympathetic to the Russians after Russian Volunteers fought with the Boers against the English.   

So CF's claims are far-fetched  About the Ossewa Nbrandwag who represent less than 10% of the Arikaans population and with time most of the Afrikaans people left their Communist  comrades/because of help provided by the Hertzog Government to upgrade their living conditions.    CF is wrong about virtually everything he claimed about the Boer War and results of the War.     Amongst others about 66% of the SA soldiers who fought in WW2 was Afrikaans speaking people.    .

I'm curious for those with pro Russian views or those who don't considered themselves pro-Russian but believe the war is mostly the west's fault and that their should be a negotiated end to hostilities, what would you consider a Russian victory or a fair outcome to the war if their was negotiated end to the war?

Back to normal - if anybody support a peaceful settlement in Ukraine that person is regarded as Pro-Putin and pro-Russian.   The invasion of Ukraine could have been avoided if Biden did not sabotage the peace talks involving President Macron by an idiotic statement to the effect that war in Ukraine would result in Putin be replaced as Russian President.

That type of idiocy caused the War and why people are for war is amazing.    One has to be careful not to be in a situation where they - like the Greens in Germany - become warmongers.   I still wonder why all the supporters of the War are against a peaceful settlement of the war situation?  Maybe they can explain their attitude on the issue.
