The answer is simple - gas and petrol prices has hit a high due to Biden's energy policy and the reason now would be that the so-called Ukraine invasion is a farce on which the lame could be laid for the higher prices.

The reason is there had to be an "invasion".    The area where the Russian troops went has not been under the Ukraine Government since 2015 and is now again under attack from Ukraine.   So far near to a 100 000 women and children had to be evacuated from the present  area under attack.

Russia sent troops in to protect the local ethnic Russians from attack by the Ukrainians.   They are not entering any area under Ukraine Government control.    It will not serve any purpose for the corrupt Biden Administration to admit  what really is happening in Ukraine - for Biden and co it is just something to be used to draw attention away from their disastrous policies.

If this does not work out - the next one would be the implementation by the Democrats  of riots by their terrorist subsidiaries  BLM and Antifa.

Another deception of blatant distortions and crooked tactics which will follow the same route of Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. USA meddling in affairs that they have no business in, instead of attending to their own backyards and get them right. Self righteous and hypocritical.Get your own house in order first and stop interfering with other country's business.

And yes, never listening to the others stand point...just ignoring and reneging on agreements initially made. No wonder there is such distrust. Why the hell, all this could have been avoided if original agreements were honoured. Russia had no intention of "invading" but Putin was left with no alternitive.

Nauseating.

Yes the West has never really welcomed Russia into the fold. Yes the spread of NATO has been provocative. Yes the snubbing of the Sochi games was a terrible mistake that inflamed Russian opinion.

But no, it’s not acceptable to invade a sovereign nation that is in no credible sense a threat to you….unprovoked. Putin will forever be diminished by this action which is not in the spirit of modern leadership. It cast us back into the dark era of war in Europe.

Russia is a dangerous country. Armed with the nuclear capability to destroy any city on the planet with the punch of a button. With an economy reliant on oil and gas which will slowly dwindle, leaving it a third rate economic power and a first rate military power. With a history of violence. How does such a country conduct itself ?

We may be seeing the first hints in the Ukraine.

Wars have never ever resolved any conflict.

But I can understand Putin concerns about the expanding issue with ex-Russian states now independent countries joining the NATO pact.

What are the solutions?

Perhaps an agreement that former Russian states or "East Block" countries are restricted from NATO as it is a direct threat to Russia.

Complicated issues such as this are never going to sit well with countries who feel threatened.

Biden might get assistance form Western leaders and the UN but in the end who knows what is in store for the world as I am sure China is going to be the next to make a move on Taiwan.

Lets pray that no one drops the first NUKE.

Well we all know and have experienced what it is like when people break their agreements and word...I'm sure we all have this happen in our small lives, how much more is it damaging when nations reneged and dishonour such agreements.

Secondly when people lie and tell false stories to cover up what sort of taste does it leave in your mouth. What's happened to the old adage...do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.

Thirdly, in the correct context there was no "invasion" in the true sense of the word...this has been deliberately miscontrued by Biden, Johnson and Nato. Jens Stoltenberg is a blatant liar and has no principles, no integrity whats so ever. In private life, the Norwegen crashed his motor vehicle into another persons and left the scene without reporting it. I ask the question, if such men behave this way in relatively minor things how much more are they likely to behave in major critical matters.

All would be well if original Minsk agreement was honoured and come to think of it even Minsk 2 agreement.

Now we have a situation even more dangerous where these fools have forced a collaberation between Russia and Beijing...this is the last thing you want...a setting of a scene that could well be "Apocalypse" now and it won't be a science fiction tale but a reality.

I bet Russia loves high crude and natural gas prices...how convenient...and the same thing happened between 2014 and 2016...move on, no patern here...

This is real life theater, but there's no stunts and doubles...real people are dying...shame on all the main actors, Putin included, but Biden was the main enabler...almost as if he deliberately threw the match...again.

So it is clear we have a Russian Mole that has infiltrated the board. His name is Sebstantianchabel..A KGB sympathiser to former agent Putin.

Putin is an egomaniac. He named the Russian Vaccine Sputnik to promote ideology, but he really wanted to call it mini Putin vax- and then skipped the third phase of the trials to be the first in space. His medical chief resigned because of this, and Russians are naturally vaccine-hesitant because of this amateur politics by Putin. They have the lowest vaccine rate out of any country that invented a vaccine. Not sure what % Russia is religious, as their does seem to be a trend with anti-vaxxers.

Maybe James Bond moves will improve again now that Russia is the bad guy once more.

For perspective, Russia is huge physically, but it has a small economy…hardly bigger than frigging Australia, less than a tenth the size of the USA. The West should be able to build 20 times the military Russia has. And that’s probably the best solution build up overwhelming military hardware in the eastern NATO countries:

  1. United States: $20.89 trillion
  2. China: $14.72 trillion
  3. Japan: $5.06 trillion
  4. Germany: $3.85 trillion
  5. United Kingdom: $2.67 trillion
  6. India: $2.66 trillion
  7. France: $2.63 trillion
  8. Italy: $1.89 trillion
  9. Canada: $1.64 trillion
  10. South Korea: $1.63 trillion
  11. Russia: $1.48 trillion
  12. Brazil: $1.44 trillion
  13. Australia: $1.32 trillion
  14. Spain: $1.28 trillion
  15. Indonesia: $1.05 trillion

Russia's only way to move up the economic ladder is to colonise former Soviet Block "members".
For the size of their population, they have a small economy. They have smart people, but it appears they have lots of dumb ones as well.

Putin's elections must be a joke. He counts them and decides the winner.

Moz there is an element of truth to what you say but it's not entirely correct.

The biggest problem is by and large Russians are culturists, call them "old world " traditionists but that too is not always the case.

Our culture does not understand them, neither are we willing to. However there is something very good in this. They have qualities of endurance and toughness. They have intelligence and think deeply and they are not prone to talk much but observe and learn and they are endowed with great courage. They respect directness and honesty.

People foolishly judge them through untrustworthy media and painted fabrication. The portrayals of Russians through Hollywood is completely false. Even that beautiful old film, Dr Zhivago with Omar Sharif (who did not resemble a Russian) and Julie Christie is laughable to Russians. The movie called "Stalin" is an utter abomination and a joke. Some people think that he was Russian. He was born in Gori in Georgia and his birth name was Josef Besarionis dze Jughashvili.

Putin has a popularity pole that has varied from about 60% to 80% . That's the leader that Russians want. That's their choice and that's the way it simply is. That's higher than any other leaders popularity in the world. We have absolutely no right whatsoever to interfere just because our cultures don't connect. Russia is their country and it's nobodys business to interfere and try to contaminate to our detiorating values.

A poll taken in USA on where the location of Ukraine is on a world map ,was taken in USA and apparently 93% of Americans got it wrong.

Years ago we were watching the 2007 WRC in Bordeaux in France...Ireland played Georgia and there were a few South Africans watching...they identified them as "Russians". That says it all.

No, Shark and Denny I'm certainly not a Russian mole, my wife is Russian and I love her dearly and through her have met many and taken trouble to understand their standpoint. There is much to be admired. And no, Putin has many faults but imho when you compare him to what leads the world he stands very tall amonst them, that's all.

Why restrict any country from wanting to join NATO?

The obvious foremost reason is fear....

If you wanted the "protection" that it offers by joining NATO , I don't see how anyone should or could be restricted or prevented from joining.

Let’s see how the USA would respond if Mexico sided with Russia and Putin could have nukes lined up along Mexico’s northern border. And let’s see how Germany would respond if the world still held them accountable for WW2. Casting a shadow of distrust over them and persuading their neighbours to have weapons ready and pointed in their direction. I’d be sick of it too if I were Russia. And no doubt the US and Europe will drag this on for as long as possible paying not much more than lip service to Ukraine. A lovely excuse for the massive and irresponsible inflation the COVID money printer caused. Hell, Biden was already blaming “prices at the pump” on this conflict even before it began. It’s damn sickening.

Peeper and Quisling your comments on Chabal’s wife are disgusting.  Typical of your pathetic small minded view of the world, where anybody who doesn’t share your political views is automatically a target.

There is a lot of blame on both sides here. But the invasion is unacceptable and both Russia and Ukraine will pay a heavy price.

‘And I really have no interest in your wife, who she is and what she does ‘…

Nasty, miserable stuff. But I’m not surprised you didn’t see it in that light given the awful tone in your own comments. Why attack another poster’s wife of whom he is so obviously proud? Probably because you two can only feel good when you can insult somebody else.

It rather surprised me and I thought it was unbecoming for you.

Although I don't agree with a lot of things you take as "set in stone" I've had some respect for you.

IMHO you have a sharp and analytical mind but at times, lack basic common wisdom. Like most ultra liberal minded people (no I don't despise this) and can appreciate the other man's point of view without throwing a tantrum.

The tendancy that is apparent, at least to what I've observed with ultra liberal minds, is that they tend to "throw the baby out with the bath water" and are prone to psychotic behaviours.

These cursed socialised lockdowns have fueled a lot of anger in people and caused us to behave in unseemly ways.

Not becoming of you.
