For Russian journalists, even describing Putin’s invasion of Ukraine as a “war” and not the Kremlin’s preferred “special operation” could land them in prison.

The Kremlin decision to allow a sit-down to Carlson’s independent “TCN” online channel follows years of the anchor questioning US opposition to Russia, and his suggestion that Mr Zelensky is a “dictator” who is “closer to Lenin than George Washington”.

The fact that Carlson is the only Western reporter Putin is willing to speak to may well reflect more harshly on his reporter’s credentials than he believes.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson's visit to Moscow has received near-constant coverage in Russia's state media, as he prepares to interview President Vladimir Putin.

Social media has also been awash with images of him visiting sites around Moscow, as his every move is followed.

The conservative journalist has been an outspoken defender of Mr Putin.

Carlson was one of America's top-rated cable TV hosts - but he abruptly left Fox News last year.

While at the US network, his shows frequently set the agenda for conservatives and, by extension, the Republican party.

The 54-year-old was hugely influential as the anchor of a late night political talk show between 2016 and 2023 and has since launched a show on X, formerly Twitter.

Breaking news Telegram channel Mash was the first to report that Carlson had arrived in the Russian capital, posting a photo of him boarding a flight from Istanbul, and another of him reportedly visiting Moscow's famous Bolshoi Theatre to watch the ballet Spartacus.

On Tuesday, the Evening Moscow newspaper published a photo of Carlson on its front page with the headline: "Carlson, who lives in America, but speaks the truth."

Pro-Kremlin newspaper Izvestia posted videos of what it said was Carlson's vehicle entering and leaving Moscow's presidential administration building with filming equipment on board.

Earlier, it released a clip of Carlson in his hotel speaking to a reporter.

"I've read so much about Russia but I've never seen it before. I wanted to look around and see how it's doing - and it's doing very well," he can be heard saying.

Asked whether an interview with Mr Putin was among his plans, he replied: "Let's see."

Later on Tuesday, Carlson uploaded a video to his X account (formerly known as Twitter), confirming that he would "soon" interview Mr Putin.

The Kremlin has not commented on the interview - which would be Mr Putin's first one-on-one with a Western journalist since he launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Carlson has defended Mr Putin several times since the war in Ukraine began.

"It may be worth asking yourself, since it is getting pretty serious, what is this really about? Why do I hate Putin so much?" he said as Russian troops started to mass on the Ukraine border in 2022.

After Russia had invaded, he changed his tone slightly during a different show, saying "Vladimir Putin started this war... He is to blame for what we're seeing tonight in Ukraine".

Carlson has also called Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky a "dictator" who "is friends with everyone in Washington".

The news host has long been a familiar face for Russians, with clips of his critical outbursts on Fox News against US foreign policy aired extensively across Russian state TV.

Kremlin-controlled television continues to dominate the Russian media, with around two-thirds of people receiving most of their news from there.

In Russia, Carlson is frequently cited as an authoritative source of news, particularly when it comes to his views on the war in Ukraine.

In September last year, Russian news channel Rossiya 24 even began airing lengthy excerpts of his "Tucker on X" show, dubbed into Russian.

While Carlson has not spoken directly to any of Russia's TV channels, their shows are revelling in his visit and the US reaction to it.

"In the West they're comparing this visit to actress Jane Fonda's visit to Vietnam in 1972, following which she ended up on the list of America's top ten traitors and the Hollywood blacklist," presenter and pro-Putin politician Yevgeny Popov told viewers of his 60 Minutes talk show.

Popov also jibed that Carlson had managed to experience Moscow's modern public transport system during his visit.

"Americans can't even dream of such wonders of civilisation!" he said.

Before Carlson confirmed plans to interview Mr Putin, NTV, Russia's second most popular channel, promoted a post on X by Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene saying that "Democrats and their propagandists in the media are spasming" at the prospect of Carlson interviewing Mr Putin.

"In Washington they suspect with good reason that the journalist didn't fly to Moscow to sightsee," NTV's presenter commented.

 A few years ago  ABC did an interview with Putin.    When asked  about Trump he said that Trump is a very efficient businessman and a person insisting on a more peaceful world.   H is a strong  debater  on issues and knows what he believe in.   When asked about Biden he said he is a career politicians and in 42 years in politics he did not really achieved anything  that can b regarded in the interest of the world in general and the USA in particular.   

Putin must have obviously heard Obama's comment on Biden.     The latter said - "If you give Biden any issue to be dealt with there is no limit as to how he fucked it up",

In any event when asked by the interviewer about Russia cyber attacks on the USA infrastructure he asked Biden  at the October 2021 meeting in Geneva to provide proof of involvement of the Russian Government or people from Russia involved in the attacks so he can get an investigation of the issue be dealt with.   Near to 3 years later and no evidence was provided.    There were no written proof ever provided.    It was clear that  he had no respect for Biden.                      .

While 49 million people are suffering from food insecurty  he supports funding or Ukraine - but no funding of the U S poor made poorer by him and his administration - the question aises - why is the USA funding th hole budget of the Ukraine Government?    The answer is relatively simple -it is totally linked to people with shares in the Armament Industry promoting wars in the USA - too many politicians and bureaucrats getting kickbacks from the Armaments Industry.   Those are people from both political parties in the case of politicians.   

For the latter it must be clear - US Defence  Force expenditure during war situations are not subject to audit - so corruption becomes endemic- while beneficiaries built palaces for themselves to live in.     Since 2001 the USA has been invovled or providing arms for wars on a continuous basis and when questioned on the issue - the answer are always the same - there is no end to wars and when reports are made to for instance the Senate it si clear that the Army Command has no answer as to what will happen in the end insofar as those wars are concerned,   There are no achievable objectives and the only objective they came up with is if the USA do not act when ot comes to wars  is the image of he USA will be spoilt.   It happened in Afghanistan, in I raq and the Mid-East and now in Ukraine.

The media is part of the problem - they are colluding with the government and real truth is not to be expected for the USA press in particular.

In any event countries that used to be allies of the USA realize that they may end up in the sam war situations orchestrated by or wven attacked militarily by the USA/   The US press and politico's are new pressing for a war against Iran - becuase theya re behind proxy wars in the ME and North Africa.    Sure - Iran is a pestilence - but it as made sure by the Biden that the pestilence spread widely.   So will there be war against Iran and what will be the consequences?

Remember the Minsk agreement of 2015 and te renewal of that agreement in 2022 when Macron was involved,   The USA Government - first Obama and then Biden - sabotaged both agreements in an effort to retain their control of Ukraine after the 2014 coup.

Trump would never have sabotaged both agreements in the way the Obama and Biden administration did.    I think that Russia would never trust the present Government of Ukraine until a new Constitution for Ukraine has been drafted and approved by a referendum.   The present Regime of Bandera-linked Ministers appointed by the USA will not be trusted in future.

As to negotiation I think that the chaos caused by the USA inspired War may cause major problems for Russia to be convinced to allow for the Donbas Region and cities like Odessa and  Kharkov to remain part of Ukraine - but there could be an agreement reached that they and the Donbas  remain part of Ukraine with the same level of Government that applied to the Crimea - namely their own Parliament governing all internal self-Government matters in the two cities and Donbas Region - but recognized of a federal state system on a constitutional basis.

The USA will only providc aid to Ukraine to recover from the war on the basis of auditing of use of such aid and not the present system that feeds corruption in both Washington and Kiev   The USA will also not allow Ukraine to join NATO and since NATO was abused by the USA to get involved in the Ukraine war assistance - the N ATO system will be reviewed to allow for stronger control over the functioning of NATO by the NATO members in Europe   

In Europe the ultra left  and leftist Governments are collapsing  one after another and it is likely that the UK and Governments like France, Germany and even Ireland will collapse sooner rather than latter and as a result NATO and the EU will be reformed based on the wishes of the electorate in Europe.    

No more proxy wars and no more dictatorship based on either Russia or USA instruction and I think Security in Europe will be renegotiated through a Security guaranteed system - with a Council of Ministers be formed in Europe to prevent another Ukraine being imposed by the USA in Europe.

The problem caused by especially the Biden Administration is much wider than Europe though.    Biden has caused 60  Governments in especially Asia, the Americas and Africa to apply for BRICS membership to protect them from USA interference and warmongering in their internal countries.   Some close allies of the USA in the past - like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, Mexico and Argentina are amongst those already approved or at present under  consideration.

I do not like what I see of BRICS - they have too many dictatorships in their midst - Iran is one of those.   Iran is a major problem promoting terrorism and  proxy wars and the USA and UK is in deep shit as a result.    Iran joined BRICS and .any attacks on Iran may lead to WW3 - since BRICS members are forbidden to wage war against other members  and undertakes to protect members from attacks by non-members.   

Internally a new Trump Presidency will have a lot to clear up as well.   No more dictatorial FBI use for spying on opponents of the regime  - no more usage of the Justice system to undermine opposition to the Government and no more censorship of news that would be to he detriment of the USA Constitution.    The borders of the USA will be secured and no more millions of people allowed into the USA illegally.   Those from countries who are not dctatorships like Cuba and Venezuela will be considered as being oppressed and allowed to remain - those with any security concerns and especially criminals - will be sent back to the countries they came from.    There are already over 8 million of those - so they have their hands full of rooting out the undesirables in the USA at present.   I think about 90% of the migrants Biden's illegal opening of the Border will have to be sent back to their countries of origin.     Aside from that the Law and Order system will have to be reviewed and criminal justice will be needed.   No more murderers to be released without bail in future.   

The damage caused by the  Biden Administration to especially the ordinary people in the USA - causing food insecurity of 49 million people - will require a major effort on its own.

We may also end up seeing the end of the Global Warming  Hoax - exposed as such by 1600 scientists worldwide - as a political tool to oppress people will end.   

In other words - the US A  voters wants a return to normality they felt from 2017 to 2020 and stopping the chaos and destruction of Democracy that took place since January 2021.   That require so much to do that there may be a decrease in USA worldwide activities,   You will see a lot of international conferences to stop the present international rot.    Internally there is even more housecleaning to be done.

Three days into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, I was bleeding out on a muddy lawn in front of a small salmon-colored house in Akhtyrka, northeastern Ukraine. I had been shot four times, two in the legs, one in the back, and one in the left butt cheek. My colleague Stefan Weichert, who had been shot in the shoulder, was trying quite desperately to save my life.

I’m telling you about this now because I was transported back to that moment when Tucker Carlson–the fired Fox News host—claimed he was a journalist swooping in to finally deliver “the truth” about what was happening in Ukraine via his interview withHere’s why we’re doing it,” Carlson explained in a video posted on X. “First, because it’s our job. We’re in journalism. Our duty is to inform people. Two years into a war that’s reshaping the entire world, most Americans are not informed.”

I’m sorry to tell you, Mr. Carlson, but Stefan and I were on the ground in Ukraine before this war even began, informing Daily Beast readers exactly what was going on. Thousands of other foreign correspondents have been doing exactly the same thing, informing Americans and the rest of the world all about Putin’s iniquitous invasion.

On that day in February 2022, the howls of Russian mortar fire and roaring fighter jets dominated the soundscape around us. It was the beginning of the invasion. Stefan and I were trying to document the first use of cluster munitions on civilians—a kindergarten had been hit. As I lay there thinking I was dying, I didn’t mind too much. After all, documenting war crimes is the most important job a war correspondent can do.

Has he ever heard the story of Yahidne? Where Russian troops forced 300 civilians into a basement, where they lived for a month. Seven people, the Russians executed themselves. Ten others died from the horrendous conditions in the basement, where there was no air to breathe and no space to lie down.

Did he hear about the maternity hospital that was bombed by Russia in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol or the torture basements in Kherson?

Steve Rosenberg from the BBC and Christiane Amanpour from CNN were among the veteran reporters who jumped in to say they had been pushing for an interview with Putin for years.

There are also real Western journalists in Russia trying to cover the Russian perspective on the war. Evan Gershkovich from The Wall Street Journal is one of them. In a month’s time, it will be a full year since he was detained on bogus espionage charges by the Russian security service FSB. He has been incarcerated ever since.

Real journalists do not get access to grill Putin outside of his stage-managed annual TV Q&A.

The Russian reporters who pressure him with exposés or investigations that put the Kremlin under pressure are liable to get jailed. Or assassinated.

Tucker Carlson is about as far from being a journalist as they come. The primary proof—if it were needed—is the fact that he has been allowed to interview Vladimir Putin in the first place.

He has been consistently regurgitating Russian propaganda since before the invasion and he claimed that Volodymyr Zelensky, the democratically elected Jewish president of Ukraine, is a “rat-like” dictator.

Carlson is allowed access to Putin because he is a pro-Russian propagandist. Because he dances to Putin’s tune, because he has been justifying the Russian war against an imagined Nazi threat in Ukraine.

I will still be watching the interview, of course. It is Tucker Carlson’s last shot at redemption, but just as he has fumbled all of his previous jobs, he will miss this chance at doing a real interview with Putin.

I am afraid you are misinformed - I do not think Biden will remain as President until the end of the month.   He is like Mozart suffering from dementia brought on by aging .   The Special Council would not prosecute him because he is a kindly old man not recognising  what right or wrong  with losing his memory nearly. totally.   He claimed to have a meeting with  the French President who died in 1996 - and also called the Egyptian President the President of Mexico.    It is extremely dangerous to keep a mental patient as President.   I think he will be frced to undrgo a mental test and then fired in terms of Article  25 of the Constitution.

The ultra-rich  will then decide who will be their next puppet in the WH and set the media they own free to campaign all out to get their candidate elected.   Harris is out - she is even worse and more unpopular than Biden.   The shortlist appear to be .Newsom - the ultra-leftist Governor of California that caused near to 3 million people fleeing from California and will be unelectable - or Madame Hitler - the Governor of Michigan who locked down the State and  then went partying it up in with  her husband in Florida.    The other option is funny enough Haley - already funded by the ultra-rich in their bid to get h er the Republican candidate - who will not last long because she will not win in any State.
