A list of Bok heroes of the past who's sons or grandsons hove won the Green&Gold.

We have some current and recent Boks whose fathers were Boks. IMO most of them don't really live up to the hype, but some do better.

1. Schalk Burger Jr...Did better than his dad
2. Ruan Pienaar...Gysie left a way more positive legacy
3. Andries Bekker...IMO better than Hennie, but hampered by injuries.
4. Furie du Preez?...I think Frik was his uncle. Tough act to follow, but he did a good job.
5. PSDT...not there yet but I think he might get there. Grand Dad Piet Spiere, before my time.
6. Flo...did well. I am too young to remember Jan Pickard. He got a stand at Newlands named after him but only played in 4 tests.
7. Eben Etzebeth...his uncle Cliffie played prop for WP and would probably have gotten a cap if more tests were played back in the day.
8. Wickus v Heerden...good, but not as good as Moaner?
9. Morne and Felix du Plessis, well Morne was great, I don't know too much about Felix 
10. Flip and Flippie vd Merwe....I preferred Flippie. Flip is good, but will soon be forgotten.

 I actually thought of Flip while pos ting, but somehow left him out. Forgot about Wickus and Morne. Will update later, I'm sure there's some others I've left out too. It was just off the top of my head.

 Off the top of my head as well. I know that there was, at some stage, ten father and son pairs who played for the Boks but I understand what you are after. Current players who could follow in their old man's/uncles' footsteps. Right?

If you are broadening the list to include "rugby genes", i.e. uncles, etc, there are of course current players whose dads/uncles/etc did not make the Bok team but who did well at provincial level. Christie Noble, who played winger for both Natal and WP comes to mind. His one nephew, Dusty Noble, played some provincial rugby. The other one is of course JP Pietersen.

To get back to your initial list......... I just remmbered another one. Guy and Ollie Kebble.

 Hoping yes, but if you look at the trend, it seems that it's the exceptions that actually do make the cut.

 Draad.....Piet Spiere du Toit was the most feared prop in world rugby. He dominated AB captain Whineray in 1960, a big part of our series win. He then went on the NH tour dominating again, but finally matched by the French. I was never clear why his career was so short. But for a brief period he was dominant.
Jan Pickard was part of an early conspiracy theory, that Bok representation was controlled up North by guys who favored the likes of Salty du Rand. My father's generation in the Cape thought Jan was the best lock in the country.

 Moz, no wonder the younger PSDT is not quite in the same league.  I'll take Spiere over Steph any day. It's all in the name. He should officially drop Steph from his I D!

Its odd how some players are called by their first names.....Pieter-Steph, Schalk, Jean....other by their surnames....Habana, Vermeulen, Etzebeth. Why one wonders.

 Not odd, the stronger one takes preference AND the first lot has common surnames. Lots of Burgers, Du Plessis', Du T and VdM's?
