I had the privilege of meeting with Gert Smal and always had the highest opinion in the world of this guy. No wonder he is ot getting rid of the Stormers - WP management staff - but there remains one vacancy to be filled some times later this year - namely the Stormers Head Coach.
However Smal got caught out neatly. Eddie Jones was for some mysterious reason or another in Cape Town in the past week. We all know that Cape Town is a top holiday destination and for those with lots of foreign currency - but why was Eddie in Cap Town?
Maybe not wanting to let the situation get out of control - unlike the mess made by John Smit - Smal tried another angle and said he heard Jones was in Cape Town last week - but never spoke to the guy. That sounds fishy to me - they have known each other for years and was also involved together in the 2007 WC and Eddie visits Cape Town and does not "speak" to Smal.
Is there perhaps a difference between "speaking" and "negotiating"?
