This Haka crap is outdated and the biggest load of childish BS. Should have been stopped long ago. When they start that, it my cue get up and do all the final things before the game starts, like going to the toilet, get a fresh drink, get the billies, chips, etc.
For the record...... our Zulu warrior is an equally kak and childish idea.
National anthems prior to the game are great and I agree that all those performances prior to the start of a test should be dis-allowed for all teams.
Sorry Arther be doing hakas before rugby tests for over 100 years, Why change now, NZ not the only team who does it. Majority enjoy it.
Papamoa, you actually made a good point. It really has nothing to do with Rugby.
A war Haka, which I presume is what the AB's perform, is supposed to intimidate the opposition. I gotta tell ya, if anyone is intimidated by that, they shouldn't be on the pitch.
Spectators should be allowed to tackle the All Blacks during the Haka- that would make things more interesting. Only a limited amount of spectators at a time though.
The Haka obviously intimidates the Boks as you can't seem to beat us!
Leave it alone and get on with the job of working out how to match the ABs.
And Sharkbok, I thought your spectators only tackled the ref?
The Haka has nothing to do with what happens on the field. The AB's are just plain head and shoulders better than the SA's on the field.
The Haka might intimidate a team like USA, or even Canada, but the SA's, Ozzies, or English?? C'mon! Quit kidding yourself. These are pro rugby players who play against, and beat, these players in league play. Their not intimidated.
It's not about intimidation, it's about the tradition of laying down a challange before a scrap and calling upon your ancestors to give you strength.
What I don't agree with is the IRB coming out and saying you can't do anything in reply and just have to stand and watch, you should be allowed to come forward and come face to face, you should be allowed to stare down the AB's after its down, its all great stuff and adds to the tension and shows you accept said challange far better than just standing there, which in moari culture could be seen as not accepting the challange which is disrespectful.
The Springbox have also adopted a maori cultural practice...the whakapohane or translated the baring of ones buttocks with the intent to offend...as opposed to the haka which is performed as a sign of respect...
Brycy, must be a NZder, can't even spell bok. You Photoshopped the herd of sheep out hey, or was it only a couple of ewes?
Brycy, the jokes on you clown because that pic that you love so muc is actually the naked rugby they play in Dunedin. Its kiwi's my boy but you know that all too well. You are pro man on man naked action aren't you.
Haka is part of NZL. Let them continue to do it. All Blacknblue is right though. Advancing and meeting face to face should be allowed as it adds to the occassion but a line must be drawn within each player in terms of physicality. I would imagine that it would be tempting for guys to get so close and invade each others space that little head butt's and nudges would/could be thrown and then it becomes a hooligans game. Guys with passion like Etzebeth, Ali Williams and other hot heads are the reason that was all stopped I reckon. At the end of the day, its rugby, not a war...Its a good battle but not war...Those players smash each other for 80 mins then have a beer after the game. You dont do that if you dont respect your opponents as war suggests. I actually think its a highlight of a Bok players career to face the Haka because its a real sense of achievement and "making it" as everyone wants to play the top teams in the world and it doesnt get bigger than the AB's...
You need to watch some of these NZL school matches. Some of these kids haka's or war dances go on for over 5 mins. Its ridiculous. Even worse is each team has there chance. A good 15 mins spent on that before the game kicks off and then they stand and stare each other down for a minute after...
excellent pic Bryce...lol
DbDraad you're as thick as a plank aye ? the "box" with an X refers to the square white thing around the "box "player. lol
@Nzbro All Black: It was a joke you halfwit. Talk about thick, that went rifgt over your head. Go troll your nearest mall "poepol"!
Duplication, sorry.
Poor Boklogshit has to attend rugby matches in NZ...nothing a one way ticket to SA won't fix buddy...
dupication oops !

Boklogic the haka tradition at the schools is NOT ridiculous in our culture but for you to comprehend the NZ culture is asking too much I think. Same as we cannot comprehend the lack of cultural awareness and consideration towards other races by saffas that are different to yourself.
Everything you saffas do eventually becomes a political mud slinging fest filled with anger and hatred towards your fellow countrymen where those of your citizens that have a different opinion to yourselves have the "freedom of speech" as long as they conform & agree with your own opinion.
so..."the jokes on you clown"
How's that for generalizing? It seems you're the one with the anger issues.
lol DbDraad the jokes on you matey . It only just occured to you after I had to spell it out then the lights went on aye. Not to worry, we're getting used to your slow responses just like your stunned silence after saturday's 6th Oct match. lol

Look, I see you're new here. Welcome. Look, I know how to spell Box, boks and Springboks (doos as wel). I also know the difference in meaning between the lot. I also understand context, do you?
Go read up on my "stunned response" on Saturday's game a few topics back before you flaunt your ignorance all over the site. English is my second tongue, do you even speak human? Arrogance is no virtue, I'm sure you have lots of friends over there on the islands..... or not?
Beeno, it depends what color are your shoes? If you hold on a minute I'll ask Chris Masoe?
@allblacknblue
If it's not about intimidation, then the whole of the internet is wrong, and from what I've heard from my 3 kiwi friends is a lie. Here's a description of the war Haka that I find all over the place.
War haka (peruperu) were originally performed by warriors before a battle, proclaiming their strength and prowess in order to intimidate the opposition.
It's all about intimidation. It's trying to scare the opponent before the "scrap". Obviously there is other reasons for doing the Haka, but I'm guessing the All Blacks aren't doing this "dance" to invite the Boks over for christmas dinner.
...bro..the haka is performed at tangis ...thats funerals to the uninitiated... as a show of respect to the dead person...so it's not like you say all about intimidation..
Read my post again, Brycy.
I said there is obviously other reasons for performing the Haka, such as weddings, Funerals, etc.........The All Blacks are not perfroming it to respect the dead, or the living, or to invite the Boks over for Dinner. The All Blacks are performing it to intimidate the opposition.........and it doesn't. I understand the Haka is for different things, but The Haka to the All Blacks is ALL about intimidation. Understand what I'm saying??
bro ...read my post...it's also performed out of respect..for yr team ...but you can view it as intimidating if you want...yr perogative
I think they feel it's disrespectful to my team and them if they don't perform it, but I do believe the performing of the war haka is to solely, or mainly intimidate.
Do the All Blacks do different Haka's for different teams?? I noticed it looked a little different against the Boks last weekend.....or maybe I just already had a few to many...
bro..theres as many hakas as you've had hot dinners so expect a few variations as the original one had some patent pending by some aggrieved Maori tribe that were trying to protect it from being abused..
Brycy, the fact that i am here taking kiwi dollar away from other kiwi's really bothers you hey..Get used to it. Many of us here and many more to come. Its not all doom and gloom though, we pay our tax so you and your family can eat...
There is of course many variations to the haka. That is largely due to the fact that kiwi's are always inventing new ways to be dumb and show it..You fella's show it constantly on this site. Nothing better than to stick your tongue out, widen your eyes and make noise to show your intelligence. How does the saying go..empty vessels... The wide eyes is a treat. We can see right into the space where a brain should be ;-) That my friends, is what we call...BOOM!!!
..haha boklogshit thats funny from someone who does'nt like being called a racist cunt ...no wonder bokkiller was banned from the site after he stated some home truths about you....the haka is a cultural icon so try saying what you just said to a few of the Maori friends you claim to have and call 'blacks'...but you can't coz we all know that along with the rest of yr dribble that that claim was just pure BS...
Racist?? How is any of that racist..I am attacking u directly Brycy..I dont know whether you are black, white, yellow or pink and nor do I care..Only thing I do know about you is that you are thicker than a bag of dry leaves!
Ha ha Brycy must be sitting at home fuming and there aint nothing he can do about it because we all know keyboard cowboys cant front up in the flesh..Keep typing Brycy...Its your "calling" in life.
Brycy you are wasting your time trying to explain "culture" to a saffa who failed miserably to acknowledge the different cultures in his own country since he was born. I presume he is currently in nz as an immigrant pretending to be a nice person when in fact he is what I have heard from black saffas is called a "closet racist."
They hide their true colours behind their smiles when they face you in person and gnash their molars with venom as you turn your back on them.
Nothing on earth will change their mindset, not even living off NZ hospitality which is common for those saffas who have shallow morals towards the human society that is not exactly like them in race & beliefs. Their fellow black countrymen are free to enjoy their "freedom of speech" as long as they agree with the racist minority.
The haka , the All Blacks and everything NZ stands for is in direct conflict with their beliefs but they choose to live in NZ & Oz because they are too afraid to face their own demons they created in saffa land.
They have nothing to offer their host country except their own prejudiced points of view which of course they conceal with a smile.
Its very clear they cannot handle the Haka and what it represents in our culture hence the derogotory comments so I do enjoy it when the All Blacks end the Kapo O Pango with a gesture of " slitting of the throat" which in my view is the only solution to a racist.
Millennium stadium a few years back banned the A B's from performing the haka but they still performed it in the dressing room, it's not all about the other team.
I think what is written aboiut the Haka should in fact not be debated on a board like this. To my mind it is purely part of the culture of people abd has in fact nothing to do with whar happened on th field of play afterwards.
The Haka was probably intorduced by the All Blacks into rugby as a kind of psycholofical method to intimidate opposing players and to psyche up their own players for the game. If they are successful on the part of their own players - so be it. Opposing teams should to my mind not be distracted by that type of thing at all.
In summary - the Haka stems from the cultural history of the South Sea Islanders and its present format is in essence harmless and purely part of the entertainment that should be inherent to the game of rugby.
Probably the most inappropriate thing on a rugby forum, or any forum for that matter is politics as it inevitably leads to someone calling someone-else a racist. The weirdest thing is that it is always the guy living in the glass house who casts the first stone. It is quite evident that in order to spot a racist you need to be one, else how would you know.
In South Africa (as apparently on this forum), it is customary to call the other person a racist the minute you find your argument is going south. It is the lamest and most cowardly thing to do yet some idiots thrive on the concept without really realising that the mere fact that they are pointing fingers and calling names places them slap-bang into the same category.
In South Africa, 18 years after the ANC take over there is still the idiosyncrasy of blaming apartheid, Verwoerd, Botha et al for every screw-up committed by a cadre who was employed purely because of the colour of his skin.
In almost all cases where people complain that they are down-trodden and hungry etc because of racism it is just simply because they are to lazy to even fart!
Stick with RUGBY it is far more interesting to read than stupid excuses of racism calls.
Now, now boys Papa Beeno is away from the board for a while and the tone dips below what we are accustomed to on South Africa's premier rugby website!!!
Please all saffas and kiwi bird brains lets keep the humour going. No dipping below the line.
No as I was saying, is this the right shade of pink. I would hate not to do any discredit to the hahahahahahhaka! To me the hahahahahhake has to be about lowbrow comedy. It has a distinctly mongish edge t o it and thus is entirely suited fo rthe abs and fans. I mean where else d o you see supposed adults rolling their eyes, sticking out their tongues, slitting throats and all this to represent their country in front of millions. It cracks me up! Hahahahahahahhahahaha
However I do think the Boks should be allowed to advance on the abs as that look off right is priceless. No doubt the abs said unless the Boks advancing was banned the hahahahaka would have to be stopped due to the severe trauma of the wee nz players. As the IRB couldn' t afford to have long delays while smelling salts were admistered to fainting abs that kept the crowd and TV audiences waiting they were forced to ban the Mighty Boks from terrorising the wee abs.
I do hope this explains everything!
Anyhow lets not give to muchattentions t othe hahahahaka a ssome feathers are getting ruffled! In fact it has been reported that a vast array of maori war canoes are now some 400 kilometers off the coast of Cape Town .Given the the Capetonians hav ebeena dvise dto ensure their feather dusters are at the ready!! Apparently they are after a rugby legend called Beeno. Beeno however was last seen in Dunedin explaining rugby to some mongs in a local pub - he is still there as the mongs are proving hard to enlighten. Radio contact with the moaries has just been made and the circumstances explained. A crises may have been averted!!
Thank you kindly world chump but 0800 uselessboks exists only in your imagination!
