AB De Villiers...

needs a kick up the backside for the reckless way he played towards the end of his innings. Under the circumstances the team faced you'd swear he'd adopt a more mature approach, instead he gave his wicket away....JK would never have. Even Amla was playing the hook, cut and pull with gay abandon and was lucky to get away with it unlike AB.

 Denny, it's  always been like that for AB, bar a couple of exceptions. ..only difference now is that, unlike the past, we need him to stick around when the chips are down...and the chips are down more often than not lately. Still an extremely talented bat, but he should be able to stay at the crease for longer when the team needs to bat out a test. He's getting better at it, but he's not nearly there yet.

 If the Proteas fail to match the POMS first innings total then it be fair to say that his swashbuckling approach is to be blamed.

Agree Denny, this test will either end in an English win or a draw, there was no point for AB to take any risks as if playing for the win! Play for the draw, and go for the win in the following tests.
BTW Denny, There is a reasonably good chance that the Aussies will take over the number 1 test spot by the end of this/their series. Still think they are not there yet? I know England are looking pretty solid as well, but the rankings don't lie!  

 BB I'm pissed off with AB...he's been around long enough to know better....what he did is plain friggin stupid. Matter of fact there seems to be a lot of stupidity running through the team...playing AB as wickie was probably the dumbest, also persisting with Van Zyl as opener is another. Couldn't they simply give the lad a lifeline by playing him down the order!?The Ozzies are doing some good things so I expect they'll take over the number 1 ranking. Things are coming together for them which is not surprising with players jockeying for positions and with an abundance of talent available. England do have a good team and so have New Zealand. Well I did predict we'd lose the current series although naturally enough I hope I'm wrong and further to the downside I don't see an immediate future for the Proteas.

Yeah, immediate future is not great for us! But it is the way of the sporting world! 9 years on top is pretty bloody good, but an eventual dip in form is a certainty! Unfortunately the young up and coming talent in the the Proteas is anything but promising. So I suspect the downward spiral will last a while!  

 Question is how long the dip is going to last???.....I hope we don't end up like the Windies!

 Graeme will be involved with the team after this series, don't be surprised to see him opening for us in a test soon. He should be the next coach IMO.
