With respect - McLaren did not play yesterday - are you by any chance referring to Parnell?
The local media is very scathing about the game and especially the performance of the players. They claim there are 10 quality players in the side and 5 problem cases. The latter 5 are -
AbbottBehardienPhangisoRossouwParnell
Rossouw's problem is he is no opening batsman - he should be used in the lower order. Is of reasonable quality most of the time. Parnell is no good as a batsman and only marginally so as a bowler. There is no excuse for Behardien, Abbott and Phagiso - they should not have been in the squad in the first instance.
If the squad was selected on merit only players like Harmer, De Lange and Van Zyl should have been in the squad.

Erratum I meant Parnel. And we still have a problem with the fifth bowler, I can't see Behardien and Duminy bowling 5 a piece.

Dave the first wicket came from a wide full toss. The better teams will clobber this guy. Same is true of Behardien whose stats were also good yesterday.

Nothing to do with suiting myself. It's a fact. The ball was flighted on or just outside off stump. Perfect loop, pitched in the rough and turned nicely away from the bat to cause Chris issues.
It was the perfect ball by an off spinner to a lefty. I love bowling to lefties but I come through and around to them.

Moz we were talking his first wicket....nothing dangerous about it, it was just a good ball that beat Chris fair and square.
Berhardien is about as good a bowler as AB is. It's pie chucking stuff. Quality sides will slaughter his shit.
But the real issue is how poor Berhardien is with the bat. What is his purpose in the side.
At least with JP we have a quality bat who does a job as a bowler.
Berhardien is the worst international cricketer I have seen in a long while. I don't get his selection at all.

I don't mind being wrong about Riley but clearly he's no opener, also he's not a big hitter so I would play him at 5. If you put the Ozzies to one side then it's a wide open competition. The kiwis are a chance and they have a huge advantagein playing all their games on home soil, it's only when they reach the semis that they play in Oz.

Denny
I do not think they should use Rosouw as an opener - with nstructions to hit out at every ball - not wise on the team management part. He is no DE Kock - who has excellent hand-eye coordination. Rossouw when he has a few balls to get his eye in and then h does play very good cricket. Batting at 4, 5 or 6 - he won't let down the team.
