Adam Ashley-Cooper produced an amazing two for the price of one tackle

ADAM Ashley-Cooper calls it his "two for the price of one" tackle, but for the Wallabies, his amazing try-saving feat midway through the second half of their seven-point win against the Springboks on Saturday night was priceless.

The Australians held a 16-13 lead when the Springboks were on the attack out wide in the Australian quarter with a two-on-one advantage.

Ashley-Cooper brought down replacement Springboks winger Lwazi Mvovo as he passed the ball to unmarked outside centre Jean de Villiers and then almost simultaneously managed to take out the South African captain, as well.

De Villiers would have almost certainly scored if not for Ashley-Cooper's tackle and the end result could have been different.

"There's been a few jokes about it, two-for-one special," Ashley-Cooper said. "I can't explain it. I was a bit lucky. I committed to one and ended up making another.

"I was lucky I didn't get done for two high shots in the one tackle."

Ashley-Cooper's two-in-one tackle was a wonderful example of the desperation of the Wallabies' defence.

"There was a lot of desperation," he said. "Coming off the back of the disappointing loss to the Kiwis . . . we did only let them in for one try even though they scored 22 points.

"Last night, the first half was very fast and quite intense. The second half, it was the last 20 minutes that won us the game. Fitness probably got us over the line in the end and the desperation in defence was a positive."

In hindsight the Bokke should've been awarded a penalty & Adam-A a red card for his multiple offences . Alas, once again thwarted by officialdom .Early in the AB's match there was a pass that travelled forward by at least a metre .................. how the f.... do they miss such blatant infringements ?

Hi there Bobbok I am surprised that at this late stage you dont know the answer. They dont miss them Bobok they ignore them!

The forward pass is currently the abs favourite weapon. For the abs obstruction in the backline is probably second. If that fails they can always fall back on blowing you for offsides and making sure the TV replays arent replaid etc etc etc.

Unfortunatley after years of malpractice they have many, many etcs.  It all culminated in the Bryce Lawrence debacle which forever ruined the abs reputation. Its like humpty dumpty falling off the wall. He couldnt be put together again. I use simple terms just in case ou hakwa and brycy and the boys dont get it. Bwahahahahahhahahaha

so why did  SA not push the citing officer for the head high or is this not the process? Afterall they have cited Eben for blowing Nathan Sharpes nose ...lol what a joke but sadly he does have a hot head and watch the AB's target that weakness in him and test the young Eztebeth when he is at the bottom of the rucks.

Weakness. I think a forward has to hav esome fire in him. But he will need to learn control and chanelle it. Dont give these twits the slightest chance of a Bok banning as they are just waiting for the chance.

Sharpe must be hosing himself.

That pic is missleading, I watched that tackle a couple of times and there was only one thing wrong, two of our guys could not get passed one defender. Both Mvovo and De Villiers should not be in the team. Especially Mvovo, he is just completely out of his depth. He did zero on attack, and it got much worse from there.

Mvovo should have straightened to draw the player before he passes. However in his defence they was a 2nd cover defender coming in at light speed. Still he should have straightened and drew in Ashley Cooper and then passed to Devilliers.

Good Youtube video shows, the tackle from various angles

Sasuke,

I dunno. I watched the clip a few times now and the tackle on Mvovo was high. The one on JDV wasn't as bad, and I didn't mind, But the Mvovo one he clearly used Mvovo's neck as the tackling point as he was flying through the air. That was a high tackle.
