What functions are required from looies:-

 *  defense - defective in most matches

 *  strong ball carries - average carry of 2.2 meters in tests (provided by Mozart) and 1.8 meters in Super Rugby is seriously defective

 *  a non-factor in ball protection and recovery

 *  you quoted I case where he made a possession turnover in all matches he played for the Springboks and in Super Rugby in 4 years - there was none I ever saw.

*  pace deficiency caused him  mostly to  arrive late at breakdown points and often enough did not enter ruck situations at all even when he did arrive slightly earlier.

*  line-out takes were virtually non-existent in both tests and Super-rugby (in 2013 he made 3 takes in all tests played)

*  could not link with backline players

*  never was of any use in open field play.

A 20% pass rate was very high in his case.

Riddle me this Clever Mike: If a carrier can securely carry into the teeth of the defence, routinely pulling up to three defenders into contact, what opportunities does that provide for the rest of the team? If he is marked heavily, he effectively fixes multiple defenders. Would he not be an effective screen for a wide pass? How many players do we have who demand such attention? What happens if you mark lightly? He advances well over the gain gainline, having trampled over the initial defender.

He was not necessarily  marked - he normally was easily tackled by one opponent because he was clumsy as well.

Wrong again Tokkie....I said nothing about Malherbe's scrumming, I spotlighted his defence because supposedly he was going to be much better than Jannie. Shall I bring that string up to expose yet another lie?

Liar - in later threads  you attacked Malherbe in that match and was spreading BS up to the present time repeating that BS constantly .

In later threads.....face it Tokkie all you know is that Malherbe played his first test against Wales and historically I have been critical of his scrumming. So you take a chance and claim I started that in the test against Wales. You can't remember anything about those strings.....hell you can't remember what you had for breakfast. You're a mess.
